Heavy rain and gale-force winds are set to batter the UK with the arrival of the storm that brought severe blizzards to the US.
The Met Office has issued a warning for heavy rain on Tuesday for the west of the UK, with 100mm (four inches) expected in parts of Wales and England.
The Environment Agency warned those in Cumbria, Lancashire, Yorkshire, Devon and Cornwall to prepare for flooding.
The government said the military was on standby and defences were in place.
The storm brought near-record snowfall from Washington to New York in the US.
At least 29 deaths have been reported in the US since Friday, while airports and some government services were closed.
So tempted to make a joke of how poorly the news is handling this
Anyway good luck britain
Doesn't this shit always happen though? We usually always get the tail-end of whatever the east coast of the USA gets in terms of weather.
Feel bad for those people who were flooded like 3 or 4 times over Christmas.
Fuck those guys can't get a break.

But when it happens, it rarely brings snow to the south, thanks to the Gulf Stream shielding us. Though 2010 brought us a pretty gnarly snowstorm, so it's not always grey clouds and grumpy Yorkshiremen. Though considering that winter, I'd probably have been content with the grumpy Yorkshiremen.

We'll be fine, so long as we've had some grit shipped here (we nearly always run out 2 days into it)
I'm actually looking forward to snow, it can't get in our houses.

Aye, north-west, 250+miles north of you. Good luck to you too!
i actually enjoy storms
but not the flooding part or the property damage part
LETS FUCKING DO IT
Heheheh I got 2+ feet of snow, and a lot of people near me lost power
Even though you guys aren't getting snow, you're fucked
Well fuck I hope this big ass hill of mine is going to be enough for a the SHIT STORM that approaches.
Good luck Britain. We got hit hard in Florida. Had to wear a sweatshirt for two days in a row. I think it hit 39f one morning. Absolutely horrific.

Apparently it's not snow, it's rain.
Heavy rain.
Another Devon dweller here. Good luck to us all.

Hopefully David Cage isn't in charge of this.

The rain came on something fierce today, along with winds. Everybody on the street was going "it's bloody windy in't it?" :v:
Rain please fuck off, had enough of your shit

What's your temperature normally? Just so I know what you mean fully. 39f/4c isn't abnormal here, it's 6c right now. Does that mean it's gonna be even colder for us when it comes? I bloody hope not

I've just seen local flooding alerts for the same rivers that flooded in December. Shit. Shit.
Heavy rain is coming here is it?
You call it a storm, we call it Tuesday.
[sp]nah but for real we're pretty fucked aren't we?[/sp]
Realistic, but boring response:
Some people will continue to be negatively affected by the amount of rainfall that's coming, while for others, it will be just another day.
Sorry if that's not very exciting.
Hey cool! That means we get more snow, awesome!
Living in lancaster atm, looking forward to a third flood :B
I was literally in the worst of it and the wind barely picked up at all it was just CONSTANT snow for like a day plus
The deaths were mostly because people working minimum wage had bosses who wouldn't let them stay home and safe out of the cold.
So people literally died trying to make 7.25 an hour.

There will also have been those that died of heart attacks, who would also have done so had it not snowed either.
Well lets see, i've got a surf board for one outcome, a snowboard for the other outcome, and a kettle and cuppa ready for anything else.
