While most of the leaked information from the Sony hack has revealed tons (so many tons) of potential ‘Spider-Man’ franchise plans, we’ve also been blessed with some information on one of our most anticipated projects: Paul Feig’s all-female ‘Ghostbusters’ reboot. We already know that practically every funny and super talented lady wants to star in this thing, but what exactly is the plot and tone of the film? Newly uncovered e-mails shed some light on the details. The latest e-mails were uncovered by Splitsider (via Vulture), although the article has since disappeared. In an e-mail from director Paul Feig to Sony exec Amy Pascal, the director goes through some ideas for his ‘Ghostbusters’ reboot. You’re warned of spoilers from here on out. Feig clarifies that yes, the film is a reboot and not a sequel, and takes place in a world where humans are not aware that ghosts actually exist. The director calls his version “scarier and more hi-tech” than the original film. Feig wants Peter Dinklage to play the villain, a convicted murderer who becomes a ghost when a “supercharged electrical storm” interferes with his execution. He is then gifted with the ability to summon other ghosts, which might consist of famous villains throughout history.
http://screencrush.com/ghostbusters-reboot-plot-details/
The director calls his version “scarier and more hi-tech” than the original film
This seems like a red flag to me. The original wasn't scary was it? It was goddamn hilarious. This is like one of my favorite movies - no Bill Murray is bad enough, but this?
"scarier and more high tech" Ruined [editline]16th December 2014[/editline] "lets take everything good about Ghostbusters, and throw it out the window."
dinklage playing a murderous casper? I don't know if I can see it
Wasn't the whole point of Ghostbusters that they seemed too clunky and unprofessional to be taken seriously?
He is then gifted with the ability to summon other ghosts, which might consist of famous villains throughout history.
That sounds awful.

I wonder if by "famous" villains it means either CG ghost versions of historical "villains"(Hitler and the like) or if it will be like, weakened Gozer and Vigo. Given how things sound odds are its going to be the former.
I'm interested.

It's a reboot so it won't be Ghostbusters villains.
dinklage was a great "villain" in xmen because he wasn't directly a villain, he just played the part well he's just not a scary looking person, is he going to be a comic relief character? because that'll contradict the "serious" tone theyre trying to go with
Wasn't the whole point of Ghostbusters that they seemed too clunky and unprofessional to be taken seriously?
yeah they should just make the exact same movie again
He is then gifted with the ability to summon other ghosts, which might consist of famous villains throughout history.
next nasuverse movie confirmed
yeah they should just make the exact same movie again
They should just make up their own damn IP and not resort to "modernizing" classic 80's flicks.
I love you Peter Dinkleburg, don't do this to me
Because he's "retired". He basically does golf tours and does one or two indie projects a year and only works with people who will pretty much cater to his every whim, he doesn't give a shit about the movie industry anymore, or hanging out with his old SNL buddies, cause he has new golfy friends.
A reboot? I'm out. Even Mad Max has a fourth film but takes the others into consideration. I can't just disregard the 2 Ghostbusters films.
If it doesn't have Tina Fay than its not an all ladies ghost busters movie [editline]16th December 2014[/editline] Oh also an all ladies reboot just sounds dumb, not that women shouldn't be in it but it sounds more like a Charlie's angle movie instead of ghostbusters
Ghosts really aren't scary at all unless they're in the specific context of somebody trapped with them in an isolated location without the rest of society able to help you. Beyond that they're really just a joke. Can't see how this could go well at all. Unless by all-female they mean "everyone in the movie is female" instead of "the ghostbusters are female" in which case, how do you walk outside in New York without seeing any men?
"scarier and more high tech" Ruined [editline]16th December 2014[/editline] "lets take everything good about Ghostbusters, and throw it out the window."
dats misoginy
Cool, I've been waiting a good chunk of my life for a piece of shit film made by a hack.
Nothing is sacred anymore, at all, who the fuck would think this is a good idea.

I'd rather a modern update instead of tight casting, have women and male actors play the group that sets up ghost busters, it can work they just aren't letting it. I don't think this is what Ramos was working on
All I'm saying is it's basically just gonna turn out like the Total Recall reboot did.
So actually not that bad of a scifi flick? I liked the 2012 Total Recall. Was it the same film? No. But then, it shouldn't have been. A new film with the same concept is a much more fresh approach to just a remake with different actors and a few different scenes.
To be fair, if he (Dinklage) is doing voice work then it would probably be really good. He's got a bloody good voice.

It may turn out OK if they just up the production values.
How about no? We don't need this shit. Leave Ghostbusters alone.
