Directer Gabriela Cowperthwaite told NBC News.com this week that she "didn't have one goal" in mind for how audiences would react to "Blackfish," her documentary about SeaWorld orca Tilikum.
But according to the New York Times, Cowperthwaite's film had a big effect on an upcoming blockbuster -- Pixar Animation Studio's 2015 film, "Finding Dory," the much-awaited sequel to 2003's "Finding Nemo."
Interesting, to say the least.
"But as a result of the sometimes harsh 'Blackfish,' directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite, and the resulting publicity battle SeaWorld has had to fight, Pixar decided to restructure that part of the story so that the fish and mammals taken to its aquatic center have the option to leave," the Times reported.
Haha, what?
Haha, what?
Giving the fish an option to leave sea world
But Orcas are whales...
But Orcas are whales...
Not technically. They're classified as being members of Delphinidae or the Dolphin family. Many people, including marine biologists, researchers, documentarians, and even Seaworld, prefers to call them whales as that's what many people in the public are used to knowing because of their common name the killer "whale".

unless you were talking about the guy above. He means the fish like Marlin, Dory, etc.

I didn't know anyone wanted a sequel.

I do. Finding Nemo was one of the most brilliant movies Pixar has made besides Toy Story and WALL-E.

I thought UP was pretty good. Even though it made me shed man-tears.
I loved finding nemo.
We still need a incredibles 2 sequel... and none about it yet.

Marine Biologists only call them Whales because Marine Biologists hate Dolphins.

I don't really think Finding Nemo needed a sequel, but then again neither did Cars.

Heh, I've met Milton Love before. I was taking a tour of the MSI at UC Santa Barbara and met him by chance. Really nice and incredible guy. Some of my professors have given us a link to his website because it's incredible the amount of information that he has on there and still puts on there from time to time.
I didn't know anyone wanted a sequel.
Pixar doesn't need sequels, Toy Story is an exception.
I hope the new finding nemo brings attention to our endangered ocean.

Toy story didnt even need a sequel. I loved the sequels as much as anyone else, but it didn't necessarily need them.

Yea but the Cars sequel was bad
Yea but the Cars sequel was bad
Who's to say the Finding Nemo sequel won't be?
I know it's hard to imagine, but you never know.
The Incredibles is the only Pixar film that needs a sequel
The Incredibles is the only Pixar film that needs a sequel
If I remembered correctly there were a lot of loose ends in Incredibles, plus sequel baiting.
the incredibles is the only pixar film that doesn't deserve a sequel
the incredibles is the only pixar film that doesn't deserve a sequel
It sequel baited and set up potential fallout for the main character's actions. I think it does.
