Well, I guess you all know that feeling. Its 18.00 and you just came home after a long day. You slip your shoes down, go wash yourself and throw yourself at the couch. After a bit of relaxing, you realize that its god damn Friday, and this night is sure going to be long. So, there you are, sitting in your room with just a lamp on, late night (or early early morning if you wish) and listen to some fitting music. What music would that be? For me, Alice Coopers Sex Death and Money fits greatly. What's your nights music?
copious amounts of sludge
Post-rock and post-metal.
Bitches Brew by Miles Davis is definitely night music. [editline]3rd July 2011[/editline] or any of his fusion stuff
Obtain a copy of Merriweather Post Pavilion by Animal Collective, close your door, turn off the lights and let your imagination go wild as you listen to this album. I always imagine floating in water.

Portishead, for me. Maybe some Godspeed you! if I'm feeling particularly squiggly. Also I frequently listen to DJ Shadow's Endtroducing all the way through around near midnight.

Callisto - Noir [editline]5th July 2011[/editline] Smooth jazzy post-metal

one of the few albums that works perfectly both as background/falling asleep music and as a masterpiece for careful, attentive listening.
For the jazzers: Charles Mingus - Goodbye Pork Pie Hat. <3
Holy shit, my brother's friend just came into my room while I was browsing this thread. He noticed Kind Of Blue (which I posted) and said "Hey, thats Miles Davis' Kind Of Blue. Its a great album and you should listen to it" and I just said "Well, I posted it..." and he put both his thumbs up and just walked out of the room :v:
All the Pokémon soundtracks are really soothing to me for some reason. [editline]Dohoho[/editline] Ahahaha, oh wow. I got rated dumb for something that is subjective.
All the Pokémon soundtracks are really soothing to me for some reason.
Probably nostalgic. :v:
How bout some drone, ambient, experimental stuff :v: oneohtrix point never makes me feel like I'm in the Infinite from the Space Odyssey just traveling threw the rippings of time and space or chilling in a Neoclassic room with a big rectangular rock. Enough noise to keep your mind stimulated and just a little to allow your mind to contemplate, wonder, drift, think. Don't be fooled by the analog synths, Oneohtrix is far from your average Boards of Canada cut copy, infact I think Oneohtrix can be easily characterized as the lost cousin of BoC that was lost at birth in the dark depths of space, only to be found and nurtured to adult hood by intergalactic beings of .... nevermind just listen.
or any of his fusion stuff
I wouldn't put all my faith in all of his fusion stuff, they tend to explode from time to time.

Lately been listening to some El-Ahrairah lately at night. Kinda lighter and more atmospheric take on Black Noise. This is their only non cover song on Youtube and is less Black Noise and more like Raw Atmospheric Black Metal, but it's still really good. http://youtube.com/watch?v=1VWCEeYzJTk Most types of Doom Metal would be great for the night as well.
