thought this might be interesting to post here
people are super offended on the video, and i don't think it's anything special.
well where is it
oh shit
Well? We're waiting
Is it bad that I kinda wanted to see a game like this?
I actually played this a while back when it first came out on my DK2.
I don't think it's offensive. Despite the crude graphics, acting and design it's actually quite haunting and I felt kinda odd after playing it. I think it's a good thing it was made though.
this is something that i think that vr is very good for, letting you experience harrowing events from a closer perspective, to get a better idea of what those people had gone through. this was actually one of the first ideas i had when thinking of games or experiences for virtual reality, though the weight of it may have been slightly underscored by my second idea being aa blow-and-hand job simulator

Fucking wow
chromatic abbreation: the terrorist attack
I think VR is the perfect sort of thing to tell these stories.
So many historical events you can now experience and I think it will really help you reflect on them in a different perspective.
The 9/11 thing I don't think is offensive at all. It was done tastefully and now a whole generation of people can play it to help understand that day better even if they weren't alive. A lot of people these days don't see 9/11 in human costs. They see two buildings getting hit by planes and collapsing but they don't think about the naked terror of that day.
So many horrible things happened to those people. On the ground, in the planes and in the towers.
All the things you saw in the VR video happened. When the planes hit the walls buckled and shifted and a lot of the doorways were jammed, considering that this VR demo happened on a floor or two below the impact site this is completely plausible.
As far as the Jumper aspect, I think maybe they were a little hamfisted with the way the guy acted but honestly, a lot of people did jump. Real people either fell or purposely threw themselves out of the tower to escape the intense heat and smoke and that's tragic by it's self. 200 people jumped and even if it's hard to imagine, to watch or think about we need to remember that it was a real part of that day, a lot of people died in horrific ways for no good reason.
In regards to the Jumper scene. The fall to the ground took approximately 5 seconds and all the victims were likely conscious and aware during the fall.
Imagine a VR experience for other historical events though, even more tame experiences are powerful. Imagine sitting in the crowd during the Signing of the Declaration of Independence or watching the Battle of Gettysburg from the front lines. If you want a comparison to the 9/11 simulator imagine being on the deck of the USS Arizona during the Attack on Pearl Harbor.
school shooter VR coming right atcha soon enough lads
Looks like shit like every other game purposely made to be controversial.
I wish just once one of these games was made by people who legitimately wanted to make a visceral thought provoking experience.
The idea is interesting, but I think the execution leaves a lot to be desired (I also didn't care for the player)

Shame this game is probably gonna get slammed by offended people because it's 9/11.
tbh the execution of this was comical in a dark way
[editline]23rd March 2016[/editline]
also was expecting to play as terrorists
It's a very unique idea that could really leave some impact, and even though I think it was done tastefully it just doesn't do a very good job. The visuals had me way too disconnected from the experience for me to take the whole thing seriously.

Columbine Simulator? Fuck yeah, where do I preorder?

If these people were offended by this game i'd love to see their reaction to this video.

The game is hardly offensive, infact it's rather tame compared to other media that depicts this event.

I want a vietnam POW VR experience that uses state of the art force feedback technology to make it feel extra immersive

Only if the Vietnam flashbacks are free DLC.
Columbine Simulator? Fuck yeah, where do I preorder?
made on id Tech 1 for that authentic 1999 feeling
I wonder if there's a VR Auschwitz simulator
oh you boring asshole at least jump at the end
All subjects aside that game looked really shit.
I was expecting it to be a VR simulation as the pilot.
Okay, what is the fucking point of putting a facecam on a VR video? That thing obstructs at least half of your face. No one is going to be able to see your reaction. There's no damn point to it.
Columbine Simulator? Fuck yeah, where do I preorder?
Sequel to Super Columbine RPG.
