doug is in your brain
I am scarred by this and doctor should go see.
It's actually common, I think. There's a name for it... look in the Sleep and Dreams megathread. AFAIK it doesn't mean anything is wrong with you.
And your brain feeling like it "stops" is probably just adrenaline kicking in.
You're gonna die, say your goodbyes now.
OP is glitched
Exploding head syndrome. Currently non-lethal. I have it too. Mine is a form of electricity zapping. Your heart races cause it scares the living shit out of you. Just like if a gunshot went off next to your head. So, your cardio is fine. =]
What the fuck are you talking about?
Auditory Sleep Starts: More commonly referred to as exploding head syndrome. Again, usually caused by stress or fatigue. The victim may hear a loud noise (an explosion, waves, or ringing) that may emanate from within the head. The causes are unknown, but this syndrome is not thought to be harmful or detrimental to personal health.

Stop being stressed/fatigued.
panic attack?
This run along sentence really blows away the thinking cap.

It did happen once when I was trying to get a job and then got turned down by all of them.
Exploding head syndrome.
Wiki:
Exploding head syndrome is a condition that causes the sufferer occasionally to experience a tremendously loud noise as originating from within his or her own head, usually described as the sound of an explosion, roar, gunshot, loud voices or screams, a ringing noise, or the sound of electrical arcing (buzzing).
This noise usually occurs within an hour or two of falling asleep, but is not necessarily the result of a dream and can happen while awake as well.[1] While the sound is perceived as extremely loud, it is usually not accompanied by pain. Attacks appear to change in number over time, with several attacks occurring in a space of days or weeks followed by months of remission. Sufferers often feel a sense of fear and anxiety after an attack, accompanied by elevated heart rate. Attacks are also often accompanied by perceived flashes of light (when perceived on their own, known as a "visual sleep start") or difficulty in breathing. The condition is also known as "auditory sleep starts". It is not thought to be dangerous,[1] although it is sometimes distressing to experience. Sufferers may experience an inability to vocalize any sound, or mild forms of sleep paralysis during an attack.
that used to happen to me when i slept in class
:psyboom: syndrome
Honestly, it's happened to me a couple of times.
I always thought it was an actual sound that woke me up and scared the shit out of me.
Guess not.

oh look guys the rdr expansion was released :buddy:
I think you broke your brain son.
You were probably just tired, but I'm not sure.
Sleep apnea, you are having miniature heart attacks in your sleep. Trust me, I have a degree in this sort of thing.
Trust me
Ok, Doc.
I am no doc but a miniature heart attack seems unlikely and if it is then is it serious.
It has to do with you falling asleep. That "exploding head syndrome" post was correct. Many people who lucid dream apparently get this.. and your elevated heart rate and breathing were proabbly due to you 'waking' back up again.
Go see a normal doctor (no rush really) and get tested for it, or at least ask about it. You most likely have it but it doesn't seem real dangerous, especially since you said it happened 5 times.. if it was multiple times per night then that'd lead to sleep loss and other problems.
It's been happening to me as long as I can remember.
OP is error.
You should see your doctor. Doesn't seem normal

I don't think its a problem because it happens like every 2 months or longer. But some times I wasn't stressed nor tired i go to bed early and wake up early so it's not from being tired.

it actually is
exploding head syndrome just kind of started happening to me for a few weeks and then stopped
I'm sure its stress related or something

i wasnt sure exactly what caused it for me though
To any one who haven't happened it's like a fire cracker going off next to your ear but no ringing and then a quick flash and a shot of adrenaline all in less the 2 seconds.
are you sure it's not head syndrome?
