The United States government is tracking as many as 300 Americans supposedly fighting with Islamic State, the jihadist group with a heavy presence in parts of Syria and Iraq, according to senior US officials.Washington is worried that radicalized foreign fighters could become a risk to the US if they return to employ skills learned overseas to carry out attacks, anonymous US officials said, according to the Washington Times.
“We know that there are several hundred American passport holders running around with ISIS in Syria or Iraq,” a senior US official said. “It’s hard to tell whether or not they’re in Syria or moved to Iraq.”
Past reports have put the possible number of Americans who have flocked to the fundamentalist extremist group Islamic State (IS, also known as ISIS and ISIL) at around 100. IS, a former Al-Qaeda affiliate, gained strength fighting Bashar Assad’s forces in the Syrian civil war before turning to cross the border into Iraq, where they have made swift gains in western and northern sections of the volatile country.
The US State Department did not respond to the Washington Times when asked to comment on Americans fighting in Iraq or Syria.
The news of as many as 300 Americans fighting with IS comes one day after reports that a 33-year-old American, Douglas McAuthur McCain, was killed over the weekend in Syria while battling alongside Islamic State against members of a separate opposition group. Family members confirmed his passing to NBC News, and senior US officials acknowledged that they were aware of the man’s death.
Irony heavier than a black hole.
Revoke citizenship

Wouldn't be surprised if you see some new laws come into effect in the following months.
Several other countries have put forward acts revoking peoples citizenships if they fight in foreign countries. France and Australia have signed as such I believe.
Kill the heretics.
You would have to literally be psychotic to fight for ISIS.

Not really? Same could be said about joining any group with guns. Depends on your point of view.

Fine fine, I guess I'm overstating it, but who could blame me after this week?
You would have to literally be psychotic to fight for ISIS.
You might actually believe in their ways and methods. It's not as far fetched as it may sound.

Don't even fucking try. ISIS is about subjugating the entire world beneath their brand of Islam, and killing any that refuse to bow to them.
There are a lot of different angles to radicalism. Feeling wronged, feeling outcast, wanting to belong, being easily manipulated, being disgruntled, etc etc. Though actually carrying out the atrocities probably has some kind of sociopthy involved. They're fantastic brainwashers for their target audience.

And they're built up to believe that the killings are God's will and doing so is a good thing. they don't see what they're doing as a bad thing. They think they're doing the world a favor.
300 more deaths I won't care about
You would have to literally be psychotic to fight for ISIS.
Or brainwashed, or threatened... Well, I bet the second is included in the first, so yeah both.

I feel like this applies to literally everyone though. 'Bad guys' don't exist. Just people with different definitions of 'good'.
You would have to literally be psychotic to fight for ISIS.
Really, this is a good thing though.
Think about it, these are the same sort of people who would be planning bombings and shit somewhere in the US no doubt, but they're all happily throwing themselves into an area that can be bombed with near impunity, they're willingly marking themselves for death here, this is fucking great.
I doubt most of them care at all about ISIS's ideologies, they just want to join up with a group that's stampeding around killing people without consequences

No, this is a view people tend to cling to in order to sleep easier at night. Unfortunate as it is, there are plenty of people out there who are aware that what they do is ultimate bastardry and they don't care in the absolute slightest.

I saw a documentary (or maybe just a long ad for one, idk) about suicide bombers. All of the guys seemed very unstable and mentally ill. I believe that ISIS and groups like them target poor and mentally unstable youth to be foot soldiers and suicide bombers. Combine a life of untold hardship with someone who can exploit all that anger for personal gain and you get ISIS. Consider a case where a child's parents or other family were killed in a raid or bombing by the US (even if they were just told it was the US/Allies) Then, the boy becomes a street kid trying to make it on his own when someone who "understands his pain for having gone through it himself" comes along and flashes money, guns, and women. The kid doesn't stand a chance, and quickly falls into extremism.
I refuse to believe that the leaders of these groups really believe what they tell people.

This is the one guiding principle of all cults, religions and insurance agents.

of the 300 million people in america, there is at least someone is fighting for isis right now
I fucking hate this. They aren't Americans, or Britons, or French or whatever. At most you can say American-born or British-born. They left the nations that gave them a half-decent life to go murder innocents, they don't deserve the title.
Revoke citizenship
Swearing allegiance to a foreign military is one of the few ways you can revoke your citizenship automatically in the US.
You would have to literally be psychotic to fight for ISIS.
Or indoctrinated by religious dogma.
Citizenship is usually automatically revoked if they know that you have aligned yourself to an organization that is a threat to the US or has been fighting for a foreign entity.

Actually this already is a law in the US.
Activate the killswitch

A local pistol range =/= the new Nazis.
This is exactly what they are. One group over all, and will do anything to have their way.
