High caps? Mid caps? or Standard aka low caps? explain why you like to use what you use (realism, mass firepower, etc) if you wish.
High caps. It's Airsoft and I'm cheap, and I don't feel like carrying 30 mags.
I have two hicaps, two midcaps. I'd personally like to run midcaps more; if I wanted hicaps, I'd play paintball.
140 round midcaps. Any half decent field will ban highcaps. plus highcaps have feed issues and makes lots of noise. Kman doesnt know because he hasn't played yet.
real caps on my PDW mid caps errywhere else
Low caps, errrr day.
I only have four hicaps. I run midcaps because their quieter and reloading is fun.
Ban highcaps? That's ridiculous.
Ban highcaps? That's ridiculous.
Except most fields do.
in our unofficial official colorado airsoft organization rules that pretty much everybody in colorado plays by:
1.4. Magazines & Ammo 1.4.1. No Hicap / Winding Magazines are allowed to be used, only Mid-capacity, Standard / Low-Capacity or Real Capacity magazines shall be used. Support weapons (i.e. M249, M60, RPK) may use a box-mag, see section 1.7 for allowable Support weapons. 1.4.2. No metallic or paint ball bb’s are allowed , see event site rules for specific bb restrictions. 1.4.3. Players are allowed to carry as much ammo with them in the field and can carry manual operated BB loaders. Electric or Motorized bb loaders cannot be taken into the field (Staging area that is not in play is fine OK)
Unless its Milsim, that's stupid. You can't just arbitrarily ban things. No M203s! I don't like n00bt00bs?
Its not milsim. Winding mags are stupid. And it's not an arbitrary ban, pretty much everybody in the sport agrees with it.
But there's no good reason? It seems almost an elitist thing, because a lot of noobs buy high-caps, therefore all the "experienced" players must have mids or lows.
I usually use mids but mine broke so I'm stuck with my hi caps till I can afford new ones.
Highcaps are crap, mine broke like most will. I bought some shiny new midcaps. Also, highcap free fields are better, it doesn't turn into a contest of "I have a bigger mag"
I normally run mid caps with a high cap or two just in case. I only like mid caps because I don't like to wind my mags and you never have to wonder if it to I have to wind more or am I out of bb's.
But there's no good reason? Highcaps also partly negate the main bonus of people using LMG's. Plus, there's that god-awful rattling noise you hear when you're running alongside them.
That's still stupid. This is a hobby, so long as rules aren't being broken, let people play their way. This is as bad as the people who tell you what guitar brands sucks, what cars are shit, etc. Let people do what they want.

It can get REALLY fucking annoying to get hosed down by some guy with his M4 constantly spraying at you. Not to mention a lot of people here spend a good chunk of money on support weapons, only to get out-shot by some guy with his lipo-ready ARES M4 and six highcaps or some shit.
This is as bad as the people who tell you what guitar brands sucks, what cars are shit, etc. Let people do what they want.
and no, it's not like that. Guitar brands can be the same, people can have preferences and they both will perform about the same as long as you're comparing within the same class. Same thing goes with cars. But it's like bringing an R8 disguised as a Civic into a race against some old-ass Corolla or some shit, it severely imbalances everything. I'm not saying highcaps shouldn't ever be allowed, they're fine for nice and really casual games and stuff, but it can get really annoying at times.

Instead of buying one hi-cap, you can usually get 2 or 3 midcaps depending on gun type and brand. With midcaps, you don't need to wind, you don't need to worry about a crazy amount of rattle, and in my opinion midcaps are more durable so you don't have to worry about dropping them. Also yeah it's REALLY fucking annoying when there's someone firing 30 magazines worth of ammo at you with no penalty whatsoever. With midcaps, you have to watch your ammo a bit more so people don't just shoot everyone every second all day every day.

Here is a thread i found on ASF. http://www.airsoftforum.com/board/Firepower-t40608.html A lot of people say that high caps are better and all kinds of stuff. Its kinda interesting, even though i use midcaps for my ak and my g36 is gbb so only realcaps.
Ok, cool. Kman hadn't played yet, so he's a fucking idiot. So 200 rounds hosing someone down is better?
Ok, cool. Kman hadn't played yet, so he's a fucking idiot. So 200 rounds hosing someone down is better?
Just saying, but I'd rather be hosed down by 200 rounds than 450 rounds. Although, some of my friends and I will do all/no hicap games, or mixes. A lot of people are chill, others just have their preferences. I use both, but I need more midcaps.
Ok, cool. Kman hadn't played yet, so he's a fucking idiot. So 200 rounds hosing someone down is better?
300/450/600 constantly vs. 3 magazine changes of 100 each. In my opinion, midcaps are superior in every way. Midcaps may have one advantage, but it's easily negated by all of their downsides. [editline]28th August 2011[/editline] also iirc with hicaps you can shoot ~30-50 bbs before you have to wind, while midcaps unload all with minimal problems.
I use and prefer midcaps, as winding is a pain and not something I'm used to with real guns or paintball. But banning hicaps outright? Some of the less common guns don't have lots of choices in regards to magazines. I can't find any MP44 midcaps, and have been having trouble finding decent P90 midcaps. It'd really suck to be forced to use either lowcaps or find a different gun. Not to mention on the subject of spraying, you still need to wind a hicap, whereas a midcap will let you unload 100+ rounds without pause. My P90 hicaps need to be removed from the gun to wind- it's no faster to wind it up than to simply swap the magazine.

Banning hi caps is just a stupid ideas elitists use. It's pretty obvious. That's the sane as saying Airsoft should be banned because of little kids who shoot at people on the streets. Some kids may spray with them, but does everyone spray with them? I don't.
That's what I'm saying, it's completely fine to use for the more casual games, but there is a reason why it's banned for milsim and more competitive events. Dunno why you seem to be taking it so personal, I'm just talking out of experience here bro.
Its not milsim. Winding mags are stupid. And it's not an arbitrary ban, pretty much everybody in the sport agrees with it.
None of the fields I play at ban them. Many fields encourage mids or lows, but banning them altogether is pretty silly. I use lows in all my guns except my PPSH.
