I think I deserve a public apology from George Lucas.
Thinking back, I think Episode 1 was the Starwars movie I had seen the most as a kid. Maybe it was because it was on TV all the time, or maybe it just didn't spook me as much as the original trilogy did when I was young, but I really did like it at the time. And actually, I remember disliking Empire Strikes Back the most back then. Between the ski-free yeti bit, the tauntaun lightsaber surgery stuff, and vader cutting off luke's hand, it just left a really sour taste in an 8 year old me. Meanwhile in episode 1, you've got podracing, giant chrome spaceships, and some crazy-ass spinny lightsaber battles that were fuckin nuts compared to the OT's fencing. Then all the marketing stuff that came alongside such as those pizza hut and mcdonald's starwars specials, and even that kickass podracing game on the N64. I remember times were really good back then.
Hey, at least the long-eared guy was funny.
"Little Anakin Skywalker stole that movie" What in the fuck was that guy on? Deathsticks?
The Prequels are good if you read the books. They're terrible movies with not very good CGI, and super dull performances, even from god damn Liam Neeson, because it's kind of hard to put yourself in a moment when all you have around you is BLUE
I think those guys were still high from the hype. I dunno but if i were super hyped for a movie as Star Wars it would take a while for me to consider it being a bad movie.

lol the denial is strong with these guys.

This makes me fear that The Force Awakens is going to be the most disappointing thing I'll see
This makes me fear that The Force Awakens is going to be the most disappointing thing I'll see
It's quite scary actually
I honestly fell asleep during the film when I first watched it. I was only 7 or 8 but I just remember waking up like half way through the film and wondering what happened. I saw it in the cinema, too. To this day I have no idea how the fuck I fell asleep. I don't even know if I was bored or not. I just did.

Although at the time, I didn't really understood why the second trilogy was such a departure from the original and simply accepted it. I grew up on JK: DF2 which follows the grimy gribbly aesthetic of the original trilogy so I naturally lean towards that side.
I was the biggest star was fan ever when I was a kid I had all the figures and books and even read stuff in the EU like Tales of the Bounty Hunters or whatever I was the ripe age of 12, the prime demo for this new Star Wars movie. My hype levels were through the roof, I was spamming AOL fan chat rooms with other nerds and left with my parents to go see it later that evening. When I was watching it, I was amazed. It was Star Wars! The pod racing had me on the edge of my seat and the light saber battles were epic. But then it was over. Even though WHILE i was watching it, it was great, when it was over, I felt like it wasn't really star wars. I felt like it was just made to show off the new ships and characters, and everything else didn't make sense. I had no idea what the trade federation and all the political shit even meant, it was such bullshit. The OT was easy for my kid brain to understand. BAD GUYS! REBELS! GO! What was all this complicated midiclorian greenscreen bad acting bullshit. As I grew older I saw the 2nd two prequels. The second one was garbage and I don't even remember what happened. The 3rd I remembered liking, but now even that one in retrospect sucks. George Lucas took everything I had as a kid and lit it on fire. I had no friends just Star Wars and he killed my friend in front of me.
I imagine I liked it when I was a kid. But if you think about it, very little of the first episode is "Star Wars" aside from lightsabers and Obi-Wan.
I remember my nephew standing in line 3 times for Star Wars. First one was to see the new Star Wars trailer (him along with 50 others just sat at some random movie and walked out after the trailer finished) second time for the tickets and third time for the show itself. But right now you can order your tickets from your lazy ass as well watch the trailer the moment it comes out, there was something magical with waiting in line with a whole range of other SW fans, i sat with him when the movie came out and for like an hour they were just talking about every aspect of Star Wars, from what Yoda is to how long it took to build the Death Star. He did the same thing for all three movies by the way.
i still have absolutely no idea whats wrong with phantom menace, considering so many people have a problem with it ...
i still have absolutely no idea whats wrong with phantom menace, considering so many people have a problem with it ...
Don't worry, Mr. Plinkett is here to help with that: Even if you liked them he sums up everything people who didn't had problems with.
The funny thing is we laugh at them but we're doing the exact same. Hordes of people are going to line up for a movie wearing costumes, twirling lightsabers, talking about how great Episode VII is going to be and they just know it. Literally nothing's changed :v:

On a more serious note, I was a big into star wars when I was a kid in elementary school, but grew out of it as time went on. I am hoping that the new one will at least be decent and won't suffer the same sort of problems the prequels had, though.
Cineplex issued a statement that pointed objects and excessively baggy clothing will not be allowed in the theaters.
Haven't heard of them (not surprising considering they're Canadian and I'm very much south of Canada) but that doesn't change that people will still find some way to dress up even for those theaters. And it doesn't change that people will still dress up for tons of other theaters.
Man, I remember that time so well. I was like 9 when it came out and the hype was immense. Honestly, I had never before experienced such a sense of collective anticipation, it felt like LITERALLY EVERY HUMAN BEING was excited about episode 1. I fucking loved the OT so I was totally rolling with it. Speculating about the plot and characters with other kids, seeing merch and preview shots everywhere. I just felt obliged to join in. But finally having seen it, it just felt wrong. Of course I said I loved it when asked, that was the 'proper' answer but something was very off. All the toys and images didn't spark any fond memories after, like with the OT and I felt somehow alienated. I never watched it again after that, not even on TV. And as the years went by, I slowly realized. I just didn't like it. Despite the hype and the guarantee of it being good, I didn't like seeing it one bit. And when I watched episode 2 after that, I wasn't excited at all. I was cautious. And I realized instantly that I didn't like it either. Even worse, they felt like a complete reversal of everything that I liked about the old trilogy in the first place. So I didn't even bother with the third one. I've never trusted any man's promise since that time. Nor have I known feelings of anticipation or excitement.

Thought this was going to be a FineBros video.
Lol. Even if the leaks are real they will dress them up as THE WORST THING EVER, ABRAMS RUINED MY LIFE.
[sp] Based on what said leaks are, it sounds like it's not going to be offensively bad, it's just going to be dull and derivative, kind of like the J.J. Star Trek reboot. As of yet, there seems to be a lot of evidence indicating they're accurate. [/sp]
I remember my dad being an asshole and not taking me to see Ep2 but he did eventually. As a kid, it ruled but now....
Guys come on the prequels are going to be retroactively redeemed https://www.reddit.com/comments/3qvj6w
