Until last week, Chris Brennan was in good favor as senior first mate for the Water Taxi, regaling riders with Florida history lessons as they floated down the New River.
Now he's unemployed.
Is there a law against wrongful termination in Florida? Because if there is I'd file a suit with the employer.
Cymbal saw the rain tree video and, when he found out it was shot by a Water Taxi employee, called Brennan's boss.
"We just felt he was operating in conflict of our business,'' said Water Taxi owner Bill Walker, who flew in from Boston
"You can be fired for a good reason, a bad reason or no reason,'' said employment attorney Bill Amlong in Fort Lauderdale. "You can be fired because the boss doesn't like the way you did your hair today.''
Unless what the employee is saying is specifically protected speech, doing what Brennan did is "suicide,'' says Amlong.
"This guy was just toast the moment he pushed the button,'' he said.
Disgusting..
He spoke his mind, he made a video that wasn't bad at all. He is trying to protect a long lived landmark and he got fired simply because the person he is challenging got butthurt.
For a country that is suppose to be great and all, we're really far behind when it comes to a lot of civil rights and liberties. When it comes to workers rights, etc.
All they did is free up his schedule, so i hope he continues fighting and goes at it harder then he was before.

I like this tree while I am at work. I think it's a bad idea to move the tree because I will be sad about it while I'm at work. It is America's largest tree of its kind, which is something I always think about at work. Please do not view this message if you are not a coworker.
Almost makes me sad to be a dane. Hell, my mom's an architect, could be her for all i know, but i doubt it.

So you're allowed free speech so long as it's something that you're specifically allowed to freely say.
What?
