What is Quirk.fm?
-Quirk.fm is a webradio which helps you listen to or discover new music by their mood attributes instead of genre. As a user you can discover and describe music on an intuitive and cognitive level; using only images and words. This way, a unique radio stream can be created for every state of mind, regardless of genre. Its made by facepunch user Keule21 with hopes that one day music will be judged not on the basis of genre, popularity and marketing muscle but on the content of its emotional core.

How does it work?
-Simple really, you get 21 type of 'moods' ranging from 'Sad or Happy' to 'Vocal or Instrumental'. Of course you can tune them to four finer attributes. For example, 'Vocal or Instumental' can be further tuned to 'Strictly Vocal', 'Vocal Oriented', 'Instrumental Oriented' or 'Strictly Instrumental'. Out of this 21 moods, you can choose up to four moods which then creates something called a 'stream', then this stream creates a 'radio' where the magic works and the system plays a song based on your mood. Once your song plays, you can set the song 'mood' through the songs profile where the largest vote for each mood is taken and added to the database. You can also 'Set Music Free' by listening to random music provided and simple vote on them. After enough votes are collected for the database the music is 'set free' and is added to the circulation.
Here's a set of screenshots to further explain what I meant.

What are the drawbacks?
-Currently, its lacking music. There are only about 510 songs 'set free' so far. But hopefully the more this grows the more music gets 'set free'.
Cool, how do I join?
-Currently Quirk.Fm is in a closed beta with only about 320 registered users and you have to request for an invite and wait patiently to join as a beta tester.
What was the URL again?
-In case you missed both the clickable logo and 'Quirk.fm' on top of this page. Its 'www.quirk.fm' .
I have 10 invites, PM me with your e-mail if you are interested.

:/
Well, just about 500 songs is pretty low for a webradio. Not to mention they're all underground non-big company multimillion billboard top 100 stuff.
But having more users to set a song free would add to that number and any aspiring artist on facepunch can submit their own music to quirk@quirk.fm.
What is this whole set a song free thing?
What is this whole set a song free thing?
When a music is submitted to quirk. It is added to the voting section. There, users can listen to a 20 second preview of the song. After the user listen to the song, he/she may cast a vote on at least 10 moods of the song. The most vote defines the mood of the song and once the song has enough data for each mood, it is 'set free' to be listened on the radio.
I've been using it on chrome and playback always stops after one song. Anyone else having this problem?
this is a super unique idea. good luck working out the kinks. i'd be happy to submit songs or whatever if possible.
Hey, did you run a little test of the system on us a while back? I sorta remember this, good to see it got off the ground.
freeing songs is fun
