Worked for Tesla, and SpaceX should be taking extremely lucrative contract work in the next decade, should it survive that long. (I don't see why not.)

Considering the Chinese government is pushing hard for EVs and it's one of the largest markets for vehicles in the world it would be dumb not to be in it. It's a massive market, with Tesla's products having the potential to receive massive incentives from the government. If Tesla didn't enter the market it's shareholders would be crying foul.

Tesla's already said that a Chinese factory would be for the Asia market only.
