• I found my childhood in a box today

Hey guys. Recently I had been cleaning out a lot of stuff that I don't need anymore and I came across a Heelys box. I had a pair as a kid and I wondered if they were there still. But when I opened it, I got a completely different surprise. There was a shitton of Yu-Gi-Oh cards in the box! I looked through them and I could recall which ones were my favorites and which ones were my first ones. It was a trip down nostalgia lane. My first three cards Some weird japanese card oh its YOU again Oh damn I had legendary cards? All of this brought back so many memories and begged one question: Why the fuck did I spend so much time collecting these? I guess it's because of the game itself and the beautiful artwork that stirred me to collect these. Oh, I also found WoW TCG Cards in the box too. Overall, I roughly estimate the box has around 400+ cards in it with 95% of them being YuGiOh cards. I can post most pictures of other cards if you guys would like.
Someone stuffed your existence from birth to adolescence in a box? That's incredible.
Huh, so are those star orbs on the Yu-Gi-Oh cards indicative of how much it costs to play that minion? And presumably the lightning bolt icon on the Mystical Space Typhoon means it costs 1 lightning token or something? I didn't have any Yu-Gi-Oh cards growing up, so I never knew the specifics about how they worked. I remember the gist of the Pokemon cards, but not Yu-Gi-Oh. Also presumably the Kuriboh was some sort of situational blocking creature that, if played at the right time, could potentially save you from a killing blow?

I always hated that little shit.
Also, when you set a target's attack value to 0, is that just for one turn or is it persistent until the monster is killed? If the latter, then the Kuriboh sounds like a teeny Aldor Peacekeeper. "Follow the rules, mistah!" is how I imagine it'd speak, in some squeaky tone. [editline]9th August 2014[/editline] Also, apparently those star orbs indicate whether or not the summoned monster requires the sacrifice of a lesser monster to come into play. Man, that's brutal in comparison to Hearthstone, or even Magic. Usually you just need Mana to bring 'em in, but only being able to summon 1 monster per turn, coupled with stronger monsters needing to eat a weenie critter before they're ready for showtime, 's darn brutal in comparison, even if the game has no actual resources or Mana to use.

IIRC, if you want to summon a creature with a rating of 5 or higher, you need to sacrifice other monsters that have a combined rating equal to, or higher than, the creature you are trying to summon.
I too have box: [IMG_thumb]https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfp1/t1.0-9/10372250_752919621405083_2579311601545186677_n.jpg[/IMG_thumb]
OHHH SHIT a Pokedex. Man I had one of those as a kid, my little sister probably still has it in her room.
OHHH SHIT a Pokedex. Man I had one of those as a kid, my little sister probably still has it in her room.
I just have the print pokedex, never got a cool one.
I think I have my Yu-Gi-Ho cards in a couple of Ferrero Rocher boxes in the storage. Had both Kaiba's deck and Pegasus. Loved the former just because of Relinquished.
Oh man, Ferrero Rocher. Those things are damn expensive, but I remember them being pretty great back in the day. What I wouldn't give for a brief pricedrop or for them to show up on approvedfood...
Speaking of childhood toys, a few of you might know that I still play and build with Lego, particularly Bionicle. I grew up on Bionicle, so I never had many video games growing up. My knowledge of Bionicle is encyclopedic in nature, I can remember every little detail about the story, the characters, the locations, etc. And I also played quite a bit of Yu-Gi-Oh when I was younger and I still do. I'd say I'm pretty a pretty good player.
I have those first 3 cards as well Tbh I don't even know why I have so many of these damn cards I never actually cared about playing the game, it was just about having the cards
Oh man, Yu-Gi-Oh. I still have every card excluding my Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon which sadly ripped. Never played, just collected. First card I ever got. I had to have been in 1st or 2nd grade when I asked someone if they had some spare cards they wouldn't mind giving away. Only gave me one, though. I remember everyone calling this the Not-Naruto Card. Got so hype when I got this, considering it was such a good card in the show. Also got a few holographic cards. All together I think all my cards are worth $80, but I wouldn't part with them for the world. For some reason I have two Spanish cards, including the Mystical Space Typhoon in the OP. Also this scared the shit out of me as a kid.
Damn, Yu-Gi-Oh was my life back then. Oh and digimon too.
You have two god cards. I had the other one, the blue one. 5-6 years ago my younger cousin visited and I had no longer played the tcg but I kept them away kind of like you did Anyways my mom was doing his laundry and after she had washed his clothes she found 4 of my best cards in his wet pants. ruined. It was these ones. 3 of these. Piece of my childhood died that day. Gave the rest of my cards to my little brother.
Oh yeah, if there's one thing about Yu-Gi-Oh I could think of off the top of my head, it would be Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Also holy shit the text on Obelisk, damn complicated at first glance.
I had so many cards I even had the Skeleton Knight key-ring. One thing I never had though was Exodia.

The official Yu-Gi-Oh thread
Only childhood things I have is these kids computers that actually, really have something that's been functional and has actually taught me a few things. Which is why I was a whizzkid at computing at the age of 7. I still have it, and it still works.
I have so many Yu-Gi-Oh cards I think I have so many that I could nearly block a whole average laptop screen.
I have many yugioh and pokemon cards as well rarest card I have is probably the ancient mew holo card
I had bunch of fake Yu-Gi-Oh cards in the past which i given away..
