A Philadelphia high school honor student was ordered by her teacher to get out of the classroom when she entered wearing a Romney/Ryan t-shirt on a casual dress day. The school has confirmed that the student, Samantha Pawlucy, was not at fault in the incident, in which her Obama-supporting teacher gave the youngster a crash course in partisan politics. “I came in, and [my teacher] said, ‘Are you wearing a Mitt Romney shirt?’ She pointed and said, ‘Get out of the class.’ And I said, ‘no.’” Samantha says her teacher went on to tell her that she couldn’t wear ‘a Republican shirt in a Democratic school.’ “She took a red marker drew on it, and then she told me to take off my shirt and she would give me a different one,” she said. The exchange led to critical comments from both classmates and the janitor. Now, Pawlucy’s parents are outraged and calling for the teacher’s dismissal. While she’s been taken out of the classroom temporarily, they say they want her removal to be permanent. teacher is a prat she shouldn't kick people out based on how they represent themselves as long as it doesn't hurt anyone

People are entitled to their opinions in politics, no matter what.
everyone loses in this story
Neither of them thought this through well. The student for the politics, the teacher for the reaction.
People are entitled to their opinions in politics, no matter what.
being gay is wrong, racism is right, women are second class citizens white power
Samantha says her teacher went on to tell her that she couldn’t wear ‘a Republican shirt in a Democratic school.’
wow lol i wonder if the teacher actually knows anything about politics or just sees it as some kind of team-based sport
People are entitled to their opinions in politics, no matter what.
I am entitled to disagree with their opinion. Kicking her out was silly though.
wow lol i wonder if the teacher actually knows anything about politics or just sees it as some kind of team-based sport
That's what a lot of Americans see it as sadly.
Neither of them thought this through well. Yeah, getting some flak for it is to be expected but there is literally no way of putting the blame on her for this.
As much as I hate Romney that's kind of stupid. I could've been sympathetic if the reason was along the lines of keeping the learning environment politically neutral, but "hey you're not allowed to be republican here" is just being an idiot.
Forcing your agendas on everyone else is not cool. Respect others' opinions, no matter how fucked up they may be.
“She took a red marker drew on it, and then she told me to take off my shirt and she would give me a different one,” she said.
What a bitch. The whole situation is ridiculous enough but drawing on the shirt was unnecessary.
Isn't casual dress day in American schools every day
Good.
I got kicked out of school for wearing an AK47 T-shirt yet M16 t-shirts are allowed explain plz
Isn't casual dress day in American schools every day
If you're not in a school that forces people to dress formally, yes
Isn't casual dress day in American schools every day
Some schools wear uniforms.
teacher is dumb, girl is dumber end of story really
teacher is dumb, girl is dumber end of story really
you're the dumbest. Really the girl wore a romney t-shirt... whoop de do. It's her decision. Kicking her out is just stupid.
"I may not agree with what you say, but I shall defend to my death your right to say it."
Seems to me like it was a joke the teacher made and they're blowing it out of proportion and making it look as if the teacher threw her out of the classroom while holding up and waving a "HOPE" flag around and screaming Obama 2012. Maybe we should hear both sides of the story first (not trying to defend the teacher, it just seems unlikely that a high school teacher would do that)
Good.
yeah bro screw free speech
Good.
Kicking people out for their political siding. Sieg Heil.
i'm not saying the girl should've been kicked out at all, the teacher was dumb for that. but i mean, wearing a romney shirt she needed to expect something to happen, especially when you're supporting one of the worst candidates probably in u.s. history
doesnt matter if you hate a person, their opinion still matters.

Don't be silly. Fucking stupid teacher.
