I want to share with you a couple of songs that I've written and recorded all by myself. It's mathematical and it's techy enough I guess. I'm really inspired by stuff like The Fall of Troy, and the mathrock wave from England, but also from the classic prog masters Yes, etc. I know my mixing is a bit off, but yeah, I'm trying to learn. Also, the drums are programmed because I couldn't get a time booked to record any. I did write them on actual drums before programming though. Anyway, here's my latest song, it's called Finite. And here's my old(er) song. (I did the vocals on this song in one take during a 15 minute recording session the day before I had to mail it to my music prod. teacher, that's why they stink. I know it sounds bad at parts, but try to listen to the instruments instead then). I'd love some constructive criticism, both on my playing, and my mixing. I want to know what I could have done better.
Sounds pretty neat, you should check out Animals As Leaders for some nice jazzy instrumental prog stuff
at its best parts it reminds of don caballero which is a big compliment because usually i hate this kind of music and i like don caballero

Really cool stuff! :) I can't really offer much advice on mixing because I'm not an expert, but I think the guitar tone is a tad too trebley/icepicky, and overall the mix would benefit from having more bass frequencies in there (not necessarily louder bass). Just to make it sound a tad fuller, although I quite like this style of mix where it's not super thick and punchy (which is overdone these days imo). Playing could be a little tighter but I appreciate the difficulty of playing this kind of thing. Sounds great anyway. Your vocals aren't bad either! I like your voice, I'm sure given time to record you could sing it better. Kinda reminds me of An Endless Sporadic (you've probably heard of them, but for anyone else they are worth checking out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgWxY65R2V8)
