• Scientology taped Tom Cruise's private confessions, church leader shares them at parties

Sorry if this has already been posted, but it seemed pretty damned relevant to me, and I never saw any threads on it.
Mark Bunker (Wise Beard Man) pointed us to something remarkable over at Marty Rathbun's blog. Rathbun is a former high-level member of Scientology who defected and is now providing some of the most damning statements against his former employer. We had heard earlier from Jason Beghe that one of Rathbun's roles was to provide "auditing" to Tom Cruise. And now, Rathbun is speaking out about it. Rathbun says that Scientology leader David Miscavige ordered that Rathbun's private counseling sessions with Cruise be secretly videotaped (warning, wacky Scientology jargon ahead):
I audited a number of intensives of confessionals on Tom Cruise from July through November, 2001. By order of Miscavige many of those sessions were secretly recorded by a well-concealed video camera and voice recorder system built into the VIP auditing room at Celebrity Center International. I was r-factored that it was for the purpose of having the CS check up on the quality of my delivery. All I knew at that time was that I forwarded the videos to my CS at Int (RTC). I was also required by Miscavige to write reports on the content of every session I delivered during that period and send them directly to Miscavige. I was told by him that he needed to know because recovering Tom to Scientology was the most important mission possible. I never received a single suggestion from Miscavige during the recovery process. He quite apparently wanted to keep his distance until the messy divorce was over and there was no chance of Scientology becoming an issue.
Beghe told us earlier that Cruise stepped away from the church for several years, and that Rathbun had been entrusted with bringing him back, which is what he appears to refer to here. But now, Rathbun has heard from a source he considers reliable that Miscavige has subsequently used the contents of those secret videotapes for cocktail party material!
Well, my suspicions about DM's real purposes for recording Tom's confessions have been confirmed as warranted. I have recently learned from a very reliable witness that DM regularly held court with others in his personal lounge in the roadside Villas at the Int base, and while sipping scotch whiskey at the end of the night, Miscavige would read Tom's overts and withholds from my reports to others, joking and laughing about the content of Tom's confessions. My witness is unimpeachable in my eyes as his account contains too many accurate details from someone who had zero reason (or ability) for being anywhere near Tom's folders, videos and reports direct to DM. I also know he was a regular, preferred guest at DM's scotch night caps during that period. Wake up, Tom. It is not too late. Though, time is getting very, very short.
Ouch! Even a robot like Tom Cruise has got wince when he hears something like this, right?
For the record, Miscavige was Cruise's best man at his wedding, and the two are apparently very good friends. That's just straight-up sickening. http://blogs.villagevoice.com/runninscared/archives/2010/05/tom_cruise_was_1.php Also, here is an unedited picture of Miscavige:
Somehow this is not surprising in the least bit.
I feel bad for Tom Cruise, even before now it's felt like Scientology were just using him for PR.
I feel bad for Tom Cruise, even before now it's felt like Scientology were just using him for PR.
They use all their celebrities for PR. You get a summer home, a private room on their cruise ship, everything. All you need to do is spread the word. It kinda sucks. [editline]09:02PM[/editline]
What does any of this even mean.. Shits going to hit the fan
And now when celebrities leave it, people will regard it as a cult like it should be because they don't have any endorsement

A cult doesn't give a crap about your privacy? What a surprise.
Further proof of a bullshit cult.
I'm a recent convert to scientology, and I call bullshit on this article, our leaders would never do anything bad to anyone ever, it's impossible.
Go die.

I fucking hate this man. Grew up into a Scientology family, got out mostly because of this asshole and what he's doing to people.
Scientology has not been kind to Tom Cruise. Like time!
