• Opinions on Amazon's new 'AmazonAir' concept and the drone.

Hey all, I have seen posts on YouTube and even the T.V. commercial and even on iFunny. I want to see your opinons on this and if you think it will actually come into play with fast delivery services and customer happiness. I think it would be a 50/50 idea. As apposed to techical difficulties being a major problem, the "kidnapping" and the unusually popular "I'm gonna shoot it down." issue. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98BIu9dpwHU ALL opinions are accepted. POST YOUR OPINION Thanks.
There's talk of it having cameras and tracking devices so if someone kidnaps im sure they'll sue them to hell and back.
Im pretty sure it will work out. Amazon is pretty awesome at having all this stuff planned out and have excellent customer service.
I think about drones like quotas, hard quotas that basically delineate based upon whatever. However they delineate, drones, I think vulcanize society.
There's talk of it having cameras and tracking devices so if someone kidnaps im sure they'll sue them to hell and back.
I heard from a few YouTube comments that there is "anti-weapon and anti-theft" systems. So I think you are along the same lines.
If there's one thing that'll put an end to it, it'll be regulation issues. Otherwise, most of their work has been done for them. Drone AI has improved hundredfold in the past decade or so, GPS and maps has improved, there's not really any difficult technical challenges they need to overcome.
I think it's dumb and attempt for life to be more new age. But hell, if I happen to get something delivered to me like that, I might think it's cool.

But this puts us one step closer to faster delivery. One day maybe it will be instant delivery.
PA always says it best.
http://qz.com/152788/australia-and-china-are-way-ahead-of-amazon-in-the-commercial-drone-race/ Australia and China have already tested drones and have them approved by the government. So yeah the Amazon one is probably going to work. I'm still not sure which one is more effective, a drone or a delivery truck. But the drone's much cooler for sure.
I thought this was a joke.
I thought this was a joke.
Why would it be a joke?
Why would it be a joke?
At first. Then I read about it.
I'd like to use it to order an emergency pack of googly eyes.
Only thing i am somewhat worried about is the range of the drones? They said the drones have 10 miles of range,(which is quite a lot of drone like that) but still hardly enough to base a service off. [editline]6th December 2013[/editline] How long until security drones that fly around and detect law violators, that flash bright lights into your eyes?
When I see one I will do whatever it takes to shoot it down and take the package
I have an Amazon warehouse down the road from me so I'm all set!
See that is the thing I have a problem with, even in the commercial [without saying] they had a person live fairly close to one of their fulfillment centers. The rarity of that happening is slim to about maybe the size of Chicago. Maybe. But anyway, this could get out of hand fast with security drones and such. OFF TOPIC - Thank you all for the widespread opinions. This is awesome! See how far we can get with this!
When I see one I will do whatever it takes to shoot it down and take the package
Ur so smart and clever, shooting down a drone with a HD camera stream, and various other tracking devices. Just so you can steal somebodies copy of 50 shades of grey. 10 years of jail to steal a package worth maybe a 100 pounds, and a broken drone you can't sell.
When I see one I will do whatever it takes to shoot it down and take the package
Seems like a big shotgun target. I wouldn't steal the stuff though, I would shoot it just for the fun of it. :v:
Right.
Hey guys. Im a UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems) Major at the University of North Dakota and fly scan eagles weekly as pilot and sensor operator. When it Amazon announced it I thought it was a cool idea but the more I looked into the more I thought it was a PR stunt. When I went to class the next day we were all talking about it and pretty much spent the whole 2 hour class talking about it. Theres some problems with it: A. When the FAA does come out with regulations for UAS operations, I highly doubt they will allow drones to be flown over populated areas as that is a major risk concern. You dont want a 5LB drone coming out of the sky... Trust me, ive been there... B. Quads and Oco-copters have terrible efficiency, the most ive ever seen one fly for was 8 miles there and back. Now this can be solved, our class thought of the idea of mini swap stations where it would land and then another one would pick it up and fly it to the destination. The swap station would have charging for the drones there. I drew a picture: While stealing them really isnt a problem because amazon could easily find them and props can cut through fingers like butter. Honestly the biggest problem from my point of view is just the populated area thing. Cheers, Widgeon If you have any further questions feel free to PM me about anything.
Flats. You're screwed.
Flats. You're screwed.
Who/what are you referring to?
When I see one I will do whatever it takes to shoot it down and take the package
Im sure they'll sue you to hell and back.
Im sure they'll sue you to hell and back.
Because they're going to what, track the bullet that hit the drone? lol Regardless, I was joking
Wonder how many states this won't be available in due to rampant target practice.
[t]http://mieszkaniaidomy.files.wordpress.com/2012/07/apartmentingurgaon.jpg[/t]
I still don't understand.
