Sir Bob Geldof has revealed a star-studded line-up for the new Band Aid Ebola charity single, which is being recorded on Saturday.
In a news conference in London the Boomtown Rats star said the words about hunger from the original version of Do They Know It's Christmas? have been altered to reflect the "filthy illness" that is currently causing a health crisis in West Africa.
One Direction, Bastille, Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sande, Elbow and Sam Smith are among those who will be lending their vocals to the track.
Sir Bob said Coldplay are in Los Angeles but will also feature on the new version of the song, which is marking its 30th anniversary.
He said there are more "giants" of rock and roll to come, including David Bowie, who has not been confirmed yet.
As someone who loves christmas,I´m happy this songs being released again
One Direction alone will be enough to drive sales mad.
Will Bono shout at us that we should be grateful it's them rather than us again?
Instead of being Band Aid, they should call themselves Ebolaids
Well hopefully it will be better than the 2004 version, I mean I love Dizzee Rascal and everything but him rapping on it felt like a parody of himself.
In all fairness, they probably don't know it's Christmas time, or just don't give a fuck.
I remember the original singing about how it's shit that they won't get snow in Africa, I don't think I need to type anymore about how that would be the worse thing that could happen to them right now or even back then.
Also the line '' Tonight thank god it's them, instead of you '' has always been abit controversial to me.
