A Dracut woman was arrested Friday night after police say she was driving drunk and crashed a van carrying special needs patients in Billerica.
Melissa Rich, 21, is charged with operating under the influence of alcohol causing serious bodily injury.
An officer caught Rich speeding down River Street around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, going the wrong way. Police say the van then swerved across the roadway, blew through two mailboxes, a telephone pole and several people's yards before hitting a home. Rich was arrested at about 6:30 p.m.
The three adult special needs passengers in the van were all taken to Lahey Clinic in Burlington. One of those passengers suffered serious injuries.
Rich is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Lowell District Court.[/release]

Unbelievable.
Good work on the page layout. It's really nice.
so why was she driving in a van drunk with SPECIAL NEEDS PATIENTS
why not just drive drunk
Drunk logic here, folks.
I wonder what her BAC was. She might not have thought it was a big deal if she was under the 0.08 BAC limit and decided to drive but fucked up anyways.
I want an audio recording of that crash from inside the van.
It has to be the strangest collection of sounds.

Why do you suddenly care about articles that are fishing for emotional appeal?
Why not point it out in every other article?
Wow amazing OP that's awesome good job.
Oh and I guess drunk driving is bad too.
But wow that formatting drives me batty! Nice!

Guess that cake really wasn't a lie then.
And she still drove better than the passengers could.

It's great but it drives me crazy trying to read that 3-word-wide text column on my phone.
The hell is OUI? Shouldn't that be DUI?

I'd think OUI would involve cranes or something..

The hell kind of van is this that it can go through a telephone pole and not stop it dead?
This is going to end up on Keith Olberman's "Worst person in the world" segment for sure..

Just looked it up, it stands for "Operating Under the Influence" which, is probably a catch-all for DWI/DUI's
