File this one in the rumor pile for now, but the upcoming sequel to Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. might actually be a prequel. Disney Central Plaza [via Stitch Kingdom] is reporting that a Disney film catalog has a brief plot synopsis for the film. According to the catalog, Monsters, Inc. 2, “will take us back to before a time when Mike Wazowski was top comedian, before James P. Sullivan was top scarer, even before the buddies joined the MI workforce. In fact it takes us all the way back to school — the University of Fear to be precise. Although the two start out as frenemies, Monsters, Inc. 2 will weave the tale of how the dynamic duo transition from rivals to BFFs.” That’s an interesting premise, although it should be noted that the plots of Pixar’s films have a tendency to change and evolve over the course of development. Monsters, Inc. 2 (tentative title) is set for release on November 2, 2012. Pete Docter will return to direct.
Colour me slightly worried about this one. source: http://collider.com/monsters-inc-2-prequel/67855/
I don't care, it will be good as Pixar has never let me down excluding "Cars".
And 3 will be a sequel to the original and 4 a prequel to the prequel of the original 5 will be offspin of the original prequel's story
Sounds kind of cheesy. =/ I hope it isn't one of those types of movies.
Don't mess this up for me Pixar.
Couldn't they use something a bit more clever, like Monsters, LLC?
University of Fear huh?

Well there wasn't really anywhere they could go as far as sequels were concerned with the original Monsters, Inc. film. I guess a prequel is really the only thing they can do to make sure the film isn't too bad. Although calling it Monsters, Inc. 2 wouldn't make much sense if it isn't actually set anywhere near Monsters, Inc.
Maybe Monsters, Inc is the name of a Secret Society at the University of Fear?
i liked the first one
Why do a bunch of teenagers care about movies being made for 6 year olds?
Where is Incredibles 2
Why do a bunch of teenagers care about movies being made for 6 year olds?
Because it's common knowledge that Pixar makes films for children, but the films are enjoyed by adults.
Why do a bunch of teenagers care about movies being made for 6 year olds?
Because they're good movies.
Why do a bunch of teenagers care about movies being made for 6 year olds?
Because this was our childhood, idiot.
Why do a bunch of teenagers care about movies being made for 6 year olds?
How dare people enjoy thing not aimed directly to them.
I'm afraid Monsters Inc 2 is going to catch Carsititis where a lot of people will hate the film for being too childlike and not enough emphasis on making the adults like it too.
I don't care, it will be good as Pixar has never let me down excluding "Cars".
And Ratatouille, for me at least. Other people liked it though. I think the Toy Story sequels especially Toy Story 3, prove that pixar are more than capable of making sequels just as good as or even better than what they are following up - and managing to do what makes a sequel great; retaining enough of the original to link it, while standing up in its own right and not just being copypaste shit.
Why do a bunch of teenagers care about movies being made for 6 year olds?
Since when are Pixar films made for 6 year olds?
Why do a bunch of teenagers care about movies being made for 6 year olds?
Because pixar movies aren't made for 6 year olds, they're proper 'family entertainment' in that a whole family of all ages can watch and enjoy them, rather than what most family entertainment seems to be which is "brightly coloured shit that kids can watch and that won't offend over-sensitive adults, but won't entertain them either"
Monsters inc is fine as it is, I think pixar should leave it alone.
And even then Cars was still above Dreamwork's tier.
I liked How to Train your Dragon better than Cars.
To be honest I'm more saddened by Cars 2 coming out later this year. The original was alright, but it was nowhere near as good as Pixar's other films. I for one love Monster's Inc and would enjoy a new one, prequel or not.
Can someone explain to me why FP doesn't like Cars? I thought it was pretty good.
Can someone explain to me why FP doesn't like Cars? I thought it was pretty good.
To me it wasn't even a bad film. It just wasn't up to the Pixar standard set by their previous films.
I don't care, it will be good as Pixar has never let me down excluding "Cars".
I loved cars. Pixar has never let me down. I really, really can't wait.

Fucking cliffhanger at the end of the Incredibles that theyve made me wait more than a few years to see whats happen.
And even then Cars was still above Dreamwork's tier.
how to train your dragon heh [editline]3rd January 2011[/editline]
Fucking cliffhanger at the end of the Incredibles that theyve made me wait more than a few years to see whats happen.
there was a game about that
