Shows off a few different environments outside of the house.

What happens?

Yuck.
I really dislike how the family or whatever doesn't react much, if at all, to being shot, even with a shotgun.
The FOV looks horrendous, like the gun is stuffed right up against your cheek.

Welcome to Playstation.

My guess is that they try to make enemies appear scarier and more threatening with it. That and maybe make the atmosphere and environment more claustrophobic by lowering the FOV.

Notice the scenes with the toilet, it's a great way to frame one object at a time as well. This isn't a shooter, it's definitely on purpose.
Lol the lip syncing on "this house is off limits"

It's probably voice from another scene added to this one.
Did they ever explain why it's been given a place in the main series then a spin off?

...Because it has openly been stated to take place in the main timeline???

then what about revelations and code veronica?
Just because they're not numbered doesn't make them worth any less. This is what they wanted to focus on, and it's a good progression for the main line, especially after the fucking mess that was 6, which just had them dump money on a game that makes basically no sense and only works as the controls are really, really good oddly enough.
They've talked about taking RE7 in a different route since 6's launch, and this is hearkening back to their roots while doing something completely new with it.

Yeah, you're probably right. And if they especially want this to be on VR I imagine it'd be needed.
I'm optimistic about the game, truly.

Code Veronica is Resident Evil 3. The RE3 was originally gonna be called Resident Evil: Nemesis but pressure from Sony got them to turn Code Veronica into a spinoff and Nemesis into a numbered sequel.
