First time putting my face on camera in a long while so I was nervous about it which is why I was speaking first and unintelligibly, sorry!
If only anyone who was a major video producer would also point out that everyone is stupid for being "scared".
Except they are spooky because if someone (facebook) wanted to, they could record audio whenever. I don't think this is a facebook problem but rather a problem with the permission system as a whole. Apps should not get blanket permission to do something, they should get permission to do something in one part of the app, and I want to be able to give them permission the first time I try to use it, not before I even install the app.

Like on iOS where you can't use say the app's camera function until you give it the right to in settings? I've also liked that about iOS, never knew why Google couldn't do something similar on Android instead of relying on people to dig up AppOps

I'd rather they give me a popup box asking deny, allow once, allow always when the app requests permission to use for example my camera, and if I so wish let me remove the permission in something like appops.

Oh like those root managers that have a dialogue box when an app needs superuser permissions
Tbh a lot of people would find that intrusive but honestly I'd love if the status bar had icons representing if the camera or mic was being used

You know, some of us need new wallpapers too...
hint hint
This is actually really nice and informative, thanks!
Pasted some of this info onto a friend who was worried about the massive list of permissions too.
has this really only become a big thing because of messenger? app permissions have always been like this, was everyone just not paying attention every time they installed an app until they were " made " to install it?

pretty much, no one really gave a shit about android permissions until facebook forced people to install it. News organisations made big on it saying Facebook is listening to you and basically saying how they'll have access to everything.
What made it worse was that they didn't say "only on Android" so iPhone users got scared as well
It's pretty ridiculous, thought I'd do a video on it
Messenger is super gimmicky and takes up space I never saw the point in re-installing it. The Facebook app built-in messaging tab has everything about it besides the pop-up bubble and stickers.

it's actually pretty decent and fast than the inbuilt chat, I've had bad experiences from that in-built chat thing on the FB app
