[REMINDER] Kojimas new "Fox Engine" will be demonstrated on Augest 30th!!! Keep an eye out for the video that day! By Patrick Klepek | July 23, 2012 A betting man would have good reason to believe Hideo Kojima is making yet another Metal Gear game, and maybe we’ll know for sure by the end of next month. As part of a retrospective feature on the 25th anniversary of Metal Gear on the PlayStation Blog, Kojima teased his next project, which will be based on a built-from-the-ground-up Fox Engine. Kojima said he would be ready to show what Fox Engine is capable of in Japan on August 30. A snippet from the end of the retrospective: “The Fox Engine is nearly finished, but the only way to be sure it works is to create a game at the same time and improve the engine with our tools as we go along. Originally we were going to do this for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, but a lot happened along the way and instead it is being made with the engine they have at Platinum Games. Production studios in Japan are nearly extinct, a fact that we have recognized for nearly 10 years, and although the Fox Engine is not finished we are ready to show what it can do... on August 30th in Japan to be more specific.” Fox Engine is powering Kojima’s next game, which we only know as Project Ogre, at the moment. Seems curious the tease would come as part of a Metal Gear history lesson, though, right? Its pretty obvious once you see all the jagged edges, Besides part of the reason its hard to tell is because the picture is small and blurred.
I know! I can't wait for the demo on the 30th :D
Already did a thread on this when it was actually announced. http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1200059 I hope to christ it's MGS5. The teasers point to Africa and Outer Heaven established a massive base of operations there not to mention that's where Big Boss first encountered Frank Jaeger (Gray Fox).
This engine is fucking sick [sp]A is real, B is engine[/sp]
If the pictures were higher resolution it would probably be easier to tell.
I hope to christ it's MGS5.
why would anyone in their right mind want an mgs5
Of course it's going to look similar at such a tiny resolution
The engine only looks really good indoors. The outdoor shots... not so much. Looks like a typical UE3 game to me.
Fox engine scrapped, too demanding for consoles.
Remember when we were shown almost photorealistic screens and games with full DMM back in 2005? We've been shown real time raytracing too, won't be seeing it in an actual game anytime soon though. Also to remember that official screenshots are almost always supersampled to hell and back.
why would anyone in their right mind want an mgs5
Oh right because it HAS to be after MGS4 right? All clues point to it being set between Peace Walker and the original MSX game's story.

It... Doesn't look very special? I'm not really that impressed by it. Sure, it might look good in that small picture, but that's all. The one with the crouching man looks like something out of BF3 or even worse. And the jungle screenshot just looks like plastic.
This engine is fucking sick [sp]A is real, B is engine[/sp]
That's so cherry picked, you could do that with tons of current gen engines

This thread again. Que 500 posts of people talking about the resolution of the images.
Oh right because it HAS to be after MGS4 right? All clues point to it being set between Peace Walker and the original MSX game's story.
not sure what would be worse. another poor and exceedingly convoluted extension of the storyline or more bad spinoff games
People should be more bothered about the actual game rather than the Engine. I'd also like to point out this was never stated to be a next gen engine anywhere. So don't cry that it's not up to whatever standards you might think next gen needs to be. [editline]26th August 2012[/editline]
not sure what would be worse. another poor and exceedingly convoluted extension of the storyline or more bad spinoff games
The only bad spinoff was Acid and in regards to story, there's not much extending that needs to be done. Rather a re-evaluation of the MSX era.
if these are supposed to showcase the engine in something other than a boring room then it really isn't helping it looks exactly like every other game released since 2007
I think those jungle screenies were from earlier months during 2011, so there's probably a huge leap now if hopefully the demo in 30th won't be just a boring office room
Thats why Im interesting in watching the realtime demo. Screenshots don't do justice. Either way I'm sure it wont be disappointing. MGS4 looked great and this is supposed to be a step up from that.
I like how it doesn't have any hi rez pictures that are in 1080p. It looks like a good engine, but CryEngine 3 blows it out of the water.
Good Idea. I am trying to but it wont update. :suicide:
Pray to the mods.
why would anyone in their right mind want an mgs5
Because it's a really good game series? Also, are the last two pictures surely from the new engine?
[sp]A is real, B is engine[/sp]
You can tell because the real one has creases in the fabric on the backs of the chairs.
why is there a horse in the meeting room
why is there a horse in the meeting room
How dare you insult kojimas looks like that.
why is there a horse in the meeting room
Boss was visiting the office that day.
