http://googlereader.blogspot.ca/2013/03/powering-down-google-reader.html
We have just announced on the Official Google Blog that we will soon retire Google Reader (the actual date is July 1, 2013). We know Reader has a devoted following who will be very sad to see it go. We’re sad too. There are two simple reasons for this: usage of Google Reader has declined, and as a company we’re pouring all of our energy into fewer products. We think that kind of focus will make for a better user experience.
Dude what What am I going to use now Alternatives anyone?
Dude what What am I going to use now Alternatives anyone?
I use Mozilla Thunderbird

What was Google Reader?
Am I the only one who has never, ever used syndication?
There's some RSS feed readers on this page. Fully portable, too, so you can transfer them from machine to machine. Then I signed up for one because it was useful.

what is a google reader and is it edible
For anyone too lazy to look it up:
Welcome to Google Reader Google Reader helps you find and keep track of interesting stuff on the web. You can subscribe to your favorite websites, and keep up with what's popular. New content comes to your Google Reader when it's posted, so you don't need to visit individual sites. Plus, Reader keeps track of which items you've read, so you only see unread items when you come back. If there's a blue border to the left of an item, Reader is marking that item as read.
It's an RSS reader
For anyone too lazy to look it up:
Sounds like an automatic reddit
ps: if you are in a place with google currents, you can import all of your feeds into it use takeout to save what you have [editline]13th March 2013[/editline] pss: www.theoldreader.com a clone of the old google reader
there's some more portable readers here. i've never been a fan of relying on online tools. they're too unreliable because they depend on whether the company decides to keep a server running or not. http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?sc=1
I liked Google Reader because it kept my shit synced. I could read on my PC, on my phone, and on some bullshit computer at school and it knows what I've read and not read yet
hopefully they make currents on more platforms, it's amazeballs
holy shit are you kidding google reader is like the center of my internet for me, i have hundreds of subscriptions
If you use Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/rss-live-links/hcamnijgggppihioleoenjmlnakejdph is awesome as hell.
That's seriously depressing, I probably used Reader more than any other Google product. I'd happily pay a monthly fee for it just to keep it running.
Can I back up my feeds or something? Copying over like 80 links isn't fun.
Can I back up my feeds or something? Copying over like 80 links isn't fun.
settings->reader settings->import/export
I used Google Reader daily until about a month ago when I discovered Google Currents
fuck. i use it to sync with minimal reader on my phone.
Google Reader was like the only good crossplatform RSS reader, and you just had to log into gmail to have it all there, what the fuck Google [editline]13th March 2013[/editline] I seriously don't know what I am going to read now. I even had the damn Chrome extension for it.
thus ends my internet life. rip
hopefully they make currents on more platforms, it's amazeballs
Currents is the most used app on my Nexus 7. That shit is cash but I wish more sites would natively support it. I would kill to get Cracked.com pushed to it with full article and image support. [editline]13th March 2013[/editline] I'm fully expecting them to replace it with something. They've been spending a ton of effort souping up Currents so maybe that will be the successor?
I used reader on my android devices, what a shame
What? I just pinned my RSS shit to my Netvibes. Everyone does that! ...[sp]Right?[/sp]V:v:V [thumb]http://puu.sh/2hkpt[/thumb]
