that was like 3 seconds after posting the 30 min vid, watch it damn you.
nice Duke voice
From the gameplay, this looks terrible.

Im going to have to agree with you. Looks really disappointing. :smith:
Yeah this gameplay doesn't look promising.
The second level of the demo was boring and generic.
I saw the disappointment coming from a mile away. It's too bad, I really hope the final game is much better than this.

I don't think they can change the whole game in a week, So it now recieves the longest game in development and biggest disappointment award.
Ep3 now takes the spotlight
yeah i saw the dissapointment coming too
Just making a new Vid explaining how to access dukes penthouse.
All of you complaining about gameplay, how is this different from the first one?
Aside from the fact that the first one was good.... Nothing?
The gameplay is really stale. On the plus side, the one-liners, humor and easter-eggs more than make up for it.
theres a good few easter eggs in the demo, there will be a shit ton in the full game

The shoot-em-up formula only worked for Duke Nukem 3D because the 90s was when First Person Shooters were just getting on their feet.
Games like these don't live long anymore, as we've seen from Bulletstorm, we're in an age that requires additional game components like story, something the generic shoot-em-up lacks.
Crappy textures ahead
The thing is, is you have to play these games in a similar mindset to how you played them back in the 90's.
Here is a comparison: If i go to see harry potter i feel a little underwhelmed by the movies. However, if i revert to the exited young kid that i was when the first harry potter movie came out then i absolutely love them. Its the same with this. Its how i can still play the old serious sam and doom games these days, i stick myself in the shoes of a young kid who has only seen this for the first time, and i still get that little tingle of excitement when the main menu comes up and i think about that young kid who was awestruck by the old games. sure it may not have a perfect story, or even a good one and sure its just boom boom at aliens, but that's what i wanted when i was young.
So become a little immature and stop being so adult.
Gotta love the difficulty. Hopefully it gets even harder.

This guy gets it completely. This is exactly the case with gamers today, they're so hardened by gritty-realism FPS shooters that mainstream companies have been churning out, that they can't see the simple fun of a random shooter, like Painkiller or SS
So the first is better because it's old?
The first was better because FPS games were justing showing up around that time period, and FPS games were what people thought were fun, just because they were FPS. Games like Doom, Descent, and Duke Nukem only really survived because FPS games were new, and everyone wanted to play them. Now we have too many of them, and the only ones people play nowadays are the ones with an immersive storyline, or vast gameplay mechanics that keep the game going.
You've got to admit that the generic shoot-em-up, no storyline and hollow gameplay first-person shooters don't work anymore.
You have the weirdest key set up man. '.' for sprint? 'enter' for use?
Yeah, but people who love the first ones and hate this one are very subjective. Just because it's old does not make the quality better.
That's a different story, I've never played Duke Nukem 3D, and I don't plan to not because it's old, but because the gameplay would bore me to death.

lol Ive used the arrow keys since I started PC gaming/building, which is creeping up to 17 years now, cant shake the habit
I actually like the lack of ironsights. Makes it less generic and more arcade-ish, like it should be.
I like how it looks so far actually, I know it looks "generic" apparently, but really it's probably got more originality than most games on the market so far. It's got style and brings back a time when modern shooters didn't contain unnecessary military like guns, characters who exist simply for being there, and 1-3 shot kills on every enemy.
Real games should at least have varying enemies. I think DNF looks pretty good at this point, despite all the girls and stuff. So what if it looks immature? It's a video game, it's supposed to be unreal. I mean if you look at most good games, almost none of the shit from those games makes sense, in a good, whimsical way. This is compared to mediocre or just plain bland games like CoD which is unreal at times when it tries to be real, in an anti-cinematic, "jesus fuck stop trying to be cool" way.
I'm not saying this game is great, but at least it's trying to be (and kinda succeeding) at being different in a good way.

An entire playthrough of the full game in Duke's voice. Yep. if John St John can charge like 50 bucks a paragraph, then your playthrough would be worth thousands and thousands!
haha, I do answer phone messages on the side!
Theres a new duke in town.
