Ive only got a few weeks until I go up to Michigan for training, I have seen the videos and stuff, but I want to know what to expect from people here who have actually been in the military or are still in it. :downs:
Isn't there a "Thinking of joining the military" thread somewhere?

Oops mis read OP.
Good luck though, hope that other thread helps you out.
dont come back without shooting something!
Basic's just a game, get through it and life will be good. you'll get yelled at, don't expect any less. You'll be treated unfairly in the sense of "Ok everyone get your phones time to call home!" "LOL NEVER MIND PUSH UP TIME"
It basically consists of screaming, trolling, and adapting/learning. Once you realize that you're damn near set.

Best advice I can give you after going through basic, keep your fucking head down and do what you're told. In-processing sucks balls, the first few weeks suck balls, but if you can make it through those you'll be set.

It sucks, you shouldn't have done that.
Honestly though, it was fun, but I'm glad my contract is about up. No regrets.
What branch of the military OP? And I leave for basic training in about a year for the Marine Corps.

I'd buy you a "U.S. Veteran" title but I have no money :(
(And I'm not sure if you'd appreciate replacing your current title)

Good luck, I leave in 2 months.

11b or 0311 (army/marines) ?
Watch Full Metal Jacket, about as accurate as it'll get.
enjoy having your moral and value systems overwritten!
Don't stand out and be perfectly average in everything you do.
