Scott Davis, a program specialist at the VA's Health Eligibility Center in Atlanta and a past whistleblower on the VA's failings, provided HuffPost with an April 2015 report titled "Analysis of Death Services," which reviews the accuracy of the VA's veteran death records. The report was conducted by staffers in the VA Health Eligibility Center and the VA Office of Analytics. Flip to page 13 and you'll see some stark numbers. As of April, there were 847,822 veterans listed as pending for enrollment in VA health care. Of those, 238,657 are now deceased, meaning they died after they applied for, but never got, health care.
This does not surprise me what so ever. The care at the VA itself is good, but the waiting and trying to get the care is absolutely terrible.
Get your shit together VA. I don't know why it is taking so long to get their house in order.
This is what fucking happens when you filibuster a VA reform bill in the name of the 'national debt'.
This is incredibly sad, I can't believe how this is somehow acceptable.
Another war, another army starved. I expected this of the U.S. from the beginning.

"We should pass this veterans care reform bill to better assist veterans who need healthcare, and to better the lives of disabled veterans across the country." "Pfffft, as if! Who's gonna pay for it, money-bags? YOU?! HA!"

The people who yell 'support the military' the most usually mean support combat troops while they fight, and support defense spending, as in buying more and/or newer weapons. When it comes time to help returned veterans all you hear from them is crickets chirping.
Funny, I remember people using the VA as a good example of efficient US government run healthcare when that conversation was in full swing.

Creedence Clearwater Revival's 'Fortunate Son' sums it up so succinctly that I could not do it better. Ooh, they only answer "More! More! More!", y'all
Those who claim to be patriots don't care about the nation - only the ideal they hold in their heads, whether it aligns with what is good for their country or not.
"The VA: Giving veterans a second chance to die for their country."
Smooth move, clog the system for so long hardly anyone inhabits it.
Funny, I remember people using the VA as a good example of efficient US government run healthcare when that conversation was in full swing.
The VA: Sucks when it can be blamed on Republicans. Is a shining example when demonstrating a Democrat plan. That's Facepunch.
Get your shit together VA. I don't know why it is taking so long to get their house in order.
I imagine they don't get funding. America basically overpays for shitty jets that aren't as good as they should be in the name of the troops and then treats its vets like shit. You might get a free burger or some tickets but good luck with getting any treatment for your ptsd or those limbs you lost. http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/09/politics/george-w-bush-100k-veterans-speech/ The insanity that people get away with.
support our troops, except when they come home those fucking moochers

Sounds like a bureaucratic clusterfuck
We should prioritize the care of our veterans over the care of others. Veterans have given more to society than others who receive care from the government.
I'm eating p good over here though
Of course you are, but what about the others?
We should prioritize the care of our veterans over the care of others.
Of course you are, but what about the others?
Active duty isn't so bad, although naval healthcare could use some fixing. My year and a half of bs with that should be enough of a reason.
