Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon is to seal its place in history at the US Library of Congress as part of its National Recording Registry.
Joining it will be Chubby Checker's 1960's dance hit The Twist and Sounds of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel.
Each year, 25 "culturally" or "historically" significant recordings are added to the registry, established in 2000.
Wish I was there to check it out

why is there a limit of 25 per year
so the ones that get in actually count for anything?
Awesome. I was teaching a class of 0th graders a couple weeks back, they were allowed to listen to music while drawing what they had been doing over the weekend. One of the lil' buggers put on a Dark Side of the Moon CD. Where the kid got it, I'll never know, but thank God he did :v:
Wow, this album is 40 years old this year. And Roger Waters will be 70 this year.

Fuck I was hoping no one would quote that part before I realized how stupid it was
I really wish this album didn't Eclipse any of the other albums that got on the list - I mean you'd have to have brain damage to see a lot of other good recordings were added to the list. I guess at the end of the day though DSOTM made more money and has been around for a very long time
etc

They thought kindergardeners was offensive. Yes. I'd wish I was shitting you.

It makes me sad that all of the still surviving members o Pink Floyd will die in my lifetime. Roger, David, Nick (well I don't care much about Nick Mason, he's a talentless hack)

what.
Where did you hear this?
Wish I was there to check it out
I wish I could be there in the flesh.
wish you were here
That album should be added too.
Glad it will be preserved for time to come.
what.

It's the actual reasoning. Something with the confidence of the kids, since aparently, 0th grade makes it sound like you're actually in school, where kindergarden sounds like just another daycare.

Oh my god, that makes me feel old. I used to listen to this album when I was thirteen... and it was thirty-five :V
I saw Roger Waters back in 2006. It was incredible. If you ever get a chance to see him live, PLEASE go.

Us and Them is pretty awesome as well, though not as fast or complex.. It has this sombre atmosphere, evoking much awe.

Still love the time solo though, was so proud when I finally learnt it.
