You know what? Props to them. They actually showed some basic test footage before the kickstarter ended. Doesn't make up for the shitty way they produced their kickstarter in the first place, but I'll at least give them that.
I'm not sure what's more notable, them reusing Mighty No. 9 to get base engine work done faster, or one of the first coded actions besides movement and jumping being object/can-kicking ala some of the more amusing gameplay gags in Legends.
I have really mixed to negative feelings towards this, that Beck model looks pretty lacking and it the apparent workflow of having a cylinder with a lot of edge flows and a poor apparent sillhouette seems to have been for a low budget ps2 game (Even the half assed SSB4U model of trigger seems to have had better effort) , not to mention they have zero real gameplay other than a quick ugly throwback to the nostalgia factor to justify the video [editline]24th July 2015[/editline] I am so glad this isnt being funded
It's an alpha gameplay, so I wasn't expecting anything notable. Still, I do wish they had something...more. Sure, Bloodstained is an easier game to make being 2D and all, but at least they had movement, attacks, and character models all implemented a few days before the kickstarter ended. I'm glad this won't make it either, if only because it might teach Inafune something.

What irks me is that they haven't even shipped Mighty No. 9 yet, and now start this kickstarter. I have faith in them, but its kinda a strained faith when we don't even know the final product of 9 first.
Definitely not some artwork interpretation, then, it seems the gray skin that isn't in the anime is staying.
it looks like they all have some kind of mechanical element in the game the anime: [t]http://i.imgur.com/JMd3i9Z.png[/t] the game: [t]http://siliconangle.com/files/2015/07/Red-Ash-Characters-1080x675.jpg[/t] If I had to guess the anime probably takes place before the game and something happens that costs beck his arm, tyger his legs and call... her entire body?
This looks terrible, even for an enthusiast. Let alone an actual studio.
Do you guys want to try out this prototype yourself? Check here! Guess what? It sucks. [sp]Unlike Bloodstained's prototype, this has no gameplay at all other than running and shooting. It's barely an alpha, it's barely anything, but it is fully a disappointment.[/sp]

Red Ash now has a publisher and will still be made even if the kickstarter fails https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mightyno9/red-ash-the-indelible-legend/posts/1308824
MN9 really doesn't look like a passionate recreation of the Mega Man series in the slightest despite it's $4,000,000 budget, which is why I feel like this will bomb as well regardless which state it's released in. [editline]July 29, 2015[/editline] If there was one thing for this game where credit is due, it's the character designs. I get that it's not indicative of a final product, but why would they release this? Either way I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes. I like the concept art's style.
I am a bit conflicted on this because I understand that game development is a tricky process but at the same time, what they have shown here is pretty fucking basic. If they were making their own engine it would have been a damn good job, but they are using Unity. If they had made all those art assets for the prototype specifically then that would be understandable, but they are just reused from MN9. I don't know what the size of their team is but to be blunt I've made something fairly similar, game mechanic wise, in Unity in 1-2 days on my own.
I still can't believe how these can be iterations of the same character. [t]http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/mightyno9/images/3/35/White_color.jpeg/revision/latest?cb=20150106075836[/t][t]http://s1.ibtimes.com/sites/www.ibtimes.com/files/styles/v2_article_large/public/2015/07/06/red-ash-beck.png[/t] Atleast with Rock and Volnutt, the resemblance while subtle, was still apparent. [t]http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/a/a6/MM10-MegaMan.png/revision/latest?cb=20100720141331[/t][t]http://www.fightersgeneration.com/np8/char/megaman-legends3.png[/t] Trying not to make it look obvious even though it's already obvious regardless of what you change, I suppose.
I guess it's because Beck doesn't really have blue as a primary color, on the MN9 iteration it's really just an accent, so I guess they felt okay to ditch it on alternate versions. Really this new design looks like a hybrid of some of Starforce's "noise changes" and MML But with a jacket and an Argentine concealed carry pistol, I seriously cannot get over them using recognizable guns in a legally-not-Megaman game.

Again though, I'm guessing Keiji wanted to move away from the similarities with Mega Man all together and even thrown out consistency out the window as a result.
The thing is I kinda feel like as MM dragged on and got more and more derivations the creators were getting sick of the blue, in X the armors completely changed your palette, as did the style changes, double souls, data crosses, and beast outs of Battle Network, and the satellites, tribes, and noises, of Starforce, and of course Inafune's favorite Megaman was always Zero who was very removed from the original design. I guess now that they're not working with a big established name anymore they're taking the opportunity to try and vary things up a bit.
