• DJ Equipment Setup Request

Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone could give me a setup or advice for assembling my DJ equipment. I'm new to this shit, and I've never stepped outside music production. All help would be nice. Need advice on like turn tables, mixers, interfaces, etc. (Money isn't a major concern, but affordability would be nice)
Not a clue mate but if this all new to you go check the 2nd hand market. I won't buy a guitar brand new if I can find it 2nd hand.
Get yourself a pair of Pioneer CDJs. They're pretty much the industry standard. They're expensive though so you might want to get a pair second hand if you can.
Do you wanna go vinyl, cdj or digital? Or best of both worlds use a DVS (digital vinyl system) so you can use digi tracks using vinyl controllers
The answer also largely depends on whether you're looking to scratch. Certain CDJ models do have vinyl emulation, but they're not quite as precise as conventional turntables.
Two Technics SL1200/1210, a mixer and some speakers is all you need. [editline]24th July 2014[/editline] And a crate of 12" singles
I wanna scratch, I wanna stick to vinyl
I wanna scratch, I wanna stick to vinyl
If you're gonna play vinyl then Technics is honestly the way to go. There are other turntables on the market for various prices but honestly none of them match up to the sturdiness and build quality of the Technics turntables. You can get a decent second hand pair on ebay for around 500 to 800 pounds.
While this thread is here can anyone recommend something to stop needles jumping and to reduce vibrations from rigs speakers and people stamping too near the decks. Maybe just some sort of stand or rubber pads? havent found anything decent through google
Better floorboards? I used to put foam under the speakers when I had laminate floors. Turntables really want to be on a stable surface, wobbly table will never do Or a penny on the headshell

Seems to make sense, gonna try that next time
