It's a Yahoo article about China, so I'm doubtful for now. But if so, this isn't the first time this kind of thing has happened. It's not quite the same, but I remember there was a doctor or something who was secretly a woman, and nobody found out until they performed their autopsy.
They concluded such medical cases were extremely rare and added that it was too late for Chen to receive medical treatment to reverse the abnormality, as it is only effective in younger people.
Oh dear
These things happen
So wait. He is a man. But he has a uterus and ovaries? As well as penis and testicles?
Imagine telling the wife. That must've been awkward.
So wait. He is a man. But he has a uterus and ovaries? As well as penis and testicles?
Intersex/hermaphrodites are a thing
Imagine telling the wife. That must've been awkward.
"hey honey, have you ever wanted to be a lesbian? well..."
The chief of the First People's Hospital of Yongkang said: "He was wearing men's clothes with short hair so we didn't think that he would be a female at the beginning."
those sexist bigots off with their heads
Did he state that he sometimes felt like a woman in a man's body?
Intersex/hermaphrodites are a thing
Yeah but having both balls and a dick while also having a uterus and ovaries is pretty fucking rare now isn't it
Yeah but having both balls and a dick while also having a uterus and ovaries is pretty fucking rare now isn't it
If they are both fully developed, then it really is extremely rare. But usually, one or both of the organs end up being useless, with him/her possibly completely infertile.
Yeah but having both balls and a dick while also having a uterus and ovaries is pretty fucking rare now isn't it
But it seems like it can happen.
Chen was also suffering from Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia, a genetic disease that causes the adrenal glands to swell due to a decrease in stress hormone and an increase in male sex hormones. (Source) This makes a lot of sense. Chen, was undergoing a sort of naturally occurring hormone therapy for years and years. Because of all the surplus male hormones, the body resembled that of a male enough to cause sexual ambiguity.
So technically he can get pregnant? Since he has a uterus and ovaries?
i want to see this chen fellow
So technically he can get pregnant? Since he has a uterus and ovaries?
I'd say yes. But their would need to be a lot of artificial assistance in order to make it go smoothly. Chen probably doesn't have good birthing hips or even an entry point for a penis. It would need to be artificial insemination. Also the womb is probably sub par since periods were relatively unnoticed. So a fetus might not survive in the environment. That being said, Chen has had the adrenal issue removed. And should start becoming more feminine over time. And therefore more fertile.

That's Shen, not Chen. Although this story is rather bizarre. How do you not know you have both male and female genitals?
Guys read the article. He doesn't have both male and female genitalia, only female. And he also is genetically female.
Wait so he's an idiot who never had sex ed or any form of informal training regarding this subjec?
So technically he can get pregnant? Since he has a uterus and ovaries?
No real chance of that happening, unless the treatment is begun, since one of the symptoms caused by the disease is infertility due to anovulation. How far her fertility will recover is another matter entirely since even after several studies, the effects of CAH and its treatment on fertility are not yet well documented enough.
-snip-
Human bodies and their genetics do really weird things sometimes. For example, 1 or 2 people out of a 1000 men are born with Klinefelter Syndrome: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klinefelter_syndrome Basicly, one of your chromosomes get flipped to female and you end up with a varying number of split-gender issues; wider hips, infertility, manboobs, trouble gaining muscle mass. Also risk of breast cancer. It's fascinating stuff. It would probably also suck.
?
read the article, the person affected was a woman suffering from a genetic disorder.
read the article, the person affected was a woman suffering from a genetic disorder.
I really didn't get the feeling he suddenly embraced womanhood just because of his chromosomes. The way I take it, he's probably lived at least most of his life as a guy and so is a guy.
Guys read the article. He doesn't have both male and female genitalia, only female. And he also is genetically female.
So he must've thought he had the smallest micropenis in the world then.
read the article, the person affected was a woman suffering from a genetic disorder.
Doesn't say they identify as female.
