This is still mildly disturbing now, I can't imagine what people did in the 20's.

We were shown this in film class last year.
It was supposed to show what a dream-like movie should be.
I think David Lynch owes this movie a little respect.
its art
Ah, one of my favourites, I also saw this in Film Studies,
I've also seen this film. Full of subconscious symbols, which is no wonder, seeing how Dalí took part in this, and his speciality was painting his subconscious.
I love this movie.

Ah, yes, Pre-Code Hollywood. Sex, violence, and shit you can't get away with anymore.
I got a .gif of the eyeball slice, but I'm pretty sure you guys don't want to see it.

meh, it wasnt too bad.
I remember when the eyeball got slit during class.
people were falling asleep due to it being a silent film (no fucking respect at all) just to be woken up with the rest of the class going "EWWWWWWWW!"
Fun times. I loved film class.
That was mental.
One of my favourites! You can buy it in a boxset with L'Age D'Or, a feature length silent film very similar to this one and also made by Luis Bunuel (one of my favourite directors!)
I saw this in my French class when we're studying surrealism.
[sp]It's a bull's eye. If you look again you can see the fur around the eye[/sp]

I heard it was [sp]A dead donkey, one of the ones that dragged the piano[/sp]
I saw this a few years ago in my film studies class. Probably the first example of surrealist film.

I found this film on Wikipedia during one of my random sessions of Wiki'ing songs, Debaser being one of them :v:
this movie is cool and worth a watch once in your life, but does it really deserve a thread?
you want a better experimental silent short? check out meshes of the afternoon by maya deren. its pretty rad
