LeBron James is getting on board with the ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’ that’s making its rounds on social media.
The Ice Bucket Challenge asks people to dump a bucket of ice water on their head. If they don’t do it, they’re asked to contribute a $100 donation. Many who accept the challenge still make a donation.
James posted a video on his Instagram account of himself completing the challenge, on a boat with beautiful blue water in the background. He screamed and ran after the water was dumped on his head.
James challenged his two sons and President Barack Obama in return.
Obama has declined other challenges but said he will donate to charities for ALS.
The trend is to raise awareness for ALS, also known as Lou Gherig’s disease. It is believed to have started with a Massachusetts ALS patient on July 29. Since then, 71,000 new donors have given over $4 million to ALS.

Obama also didn't do it and just donated to the charity.
Who was that famous baseball player who had Lou Gherig's disease?
I thought Lebron was a myth, like tupac shakur and kobe bryant
This entire thing is fucking stupid. There are a million better, less wasteful ways to raise awareness for a cause.
The silver lining is that a good deal of the people doing it here in CA are getting $500 fines for wasting water. There's even a story floating around about some USC sorority getting hit with a $25,000 fine.
This challenge is really frustrating because if you don't accept it you look like a massive prick
I did it and it was ok, then again We don't have a drought in the North East
What a waste of water, isn't there a huge fucking drought going on in California? The water could've been used there.
The whole Ice Bucket Challenge is stupid.
It's raising awareness of ALS and actually getting more money for the charities.
I would say by far, the means justify the end.
ice bucket challenge isn't even a fucking challenge "oh dump some cold water on your head"
ice soda challenge would be much more entertaining and challenging
There are better ways to raise awareness than wasting water when that water can be used elsewhere.
it's not like the water just disappears
What even is fucking ALS all I see are retards on Facebook posting a million miles a minute about this shit. How did it even suddenly come to light? Why not an icebucket challenge for Ebola or Cancer? Who even has ALS, hell why not things like MS.
Makes sense that Obama would decline, he's enough of a "human" already and him doing the challenge might make him look like he's trying too hard to be one of the people.

it's someone pouring a relatively small bucket of water over themselves for a charity event
it's going to worsen any kind of drought
What a waste of water, isn't there a huge fucking drought going on in California? The water could've been used there.

We should all just stop wasting water through bathing and send it all to California

what are you even trying to say, it sounds like you think these people should just be trucking the bucket of water to CA because there's a drought

o
ok then
i actually could see obamo doing this because he's all for that celebrity interaction
The challenge wastes water that can be used elsewhere. Plus it gives people the choice to either do it, or donate money. While most people, especially celebrities, will do both, there are better options for raising awareness in similar ways. Instead of water, use something else. Honestly I'd rather see most celebrities get a shaving cream pie to the face than a bucket of cold water poured on them. I'd also like to see the people participating actually talk more about ALS.
Do you know how water works? When you dump a bucket of water out it doesn't just go away.

yeah it wastes water, but guess what, there are places that that isn't a worry. i could turn my hose on and leave it on for an hour and it would help out places with droughts as much as if i didn't use any water for a day

It's gone until Jesus brings more ice from Pluto
Chris Pratt has the best one.
He chugs blue ice vodka before getting water on them
Who was that famous baseball player who had Lou Gherig's disease?
Joe DiMaggio
as if my facebook feed wasn't already enough of a waste of time

They need to dump the bucket of water on themselves while they're standing over a vegetable garden, now that's being resourceful

You're pissy about "wasting water" and your suggested alternative is a "shaving cream pie" to the face, it's as if you didn't even consider the industrial process of manufacturing that shaving cream and it's harmful effect on the environment. Then there's transportation, energy use in maintaining the store while you carefully select which shaving cream to use, your transportation to and from the store... I mean, come on, did you even think this through?
The fact that there's so much controversy behind this and the fact that many people are doing it means that it's working. Whoever thought of this idea is a genius.
Did you read the post or just reply blindly? Did I say water just "goes away"? No? Then don't put words into my mouth.
It's a big waste of water and there are better alternatives to raise awareness for a cause. Don't know why this seems go over so many peoples heads.
really? is there? please enlighten me to these better alternatives that will also get worldwide and celebrity attention
Weird Al also nominated Obama, as well as the Dalai Lama, and The Pope.
