In an interview on CNN's "State of the Union" aired Sunday, Cosby said calling George Zimmerman a racist doesn't solve anything. Cosby says the bigger question is what Zimmerman was doing with a gun, and who taught him how to behave with it. The shooting of the 17-year-old Martin on Feb. 26 has ignited a nationwide debate about race and self-defense. Cosby said during the interview, which was taped Thursday afternoon, that he once owned a gun but no longer does. He says there is a need to get guns off the streets, and that people should be taught to use every possible alternative before shooting someone.
http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5htrJH3TfZyZ6I4LHMoTDU3uslpNw?docId=bc30ae9b234e436f95a65548b0bfab6d
It's like that one southpark episode about the flag where the kids don't even see the race difference.
Brb, going to store to get Pudding Pops.
I like Bill Cosby a lot.

Except a gun ban in the US would do absolutely jack shit. Thinking criminals have acquired and are detaining and carrying their weapons LEGALLY is downright silly, any attempts at bans only made things worse for law-abiding citizens (see the DC handgun ban, or how crime-filled places like Detroit & co already have stricter gun laws than other, nicer states where everyone and their dog can walk out the gun store with an arsenal yet crime is near-to-nonexistant).
the ONLY thing that turned this into a race issue is that edited 911 call recording, so I have to agree with bill cosby

He wasnt saying that there should be a ban on guns, he said that people should be educated better and should be taught to use every alternative possible before shooting. Also you cant really infer cause and effect with the gun control parts. I mean I could easily just reverse it and say the the strict control laws are a result of the high crime rates, and the loose ones a result of low crime rates.

Stricter regulation, maybe, but not a ban.
The stupid media is what made this a race issue... It was bull shit from the start, all with the editing of that tape making it sound like he was calling the cops on a pesky black kid. This is an education problem if anything. This guy was part of a neighborhood watch, education on how neighborhood watches work is what is needed.
So Cosby is going to use the ruining of a man's life and death of a teenager to push his anti-gun agenda? Classy.
Black person dies by a white man by a gun, media outrage and a whole bunch of ceremonies. Like, what the fuck. So stupid. Would it be the same other way around? No. There is a little coverage, then that's it.
So Cosby is going to use the ruining of a man's life and death of a teenager to push his anti-gun agenda? Classy.
So the US is going to use the ruining of the World Trade centers and the death of many to push their anti-terrorism agenda? Classy.
Why can't it be a matter of both?
Could someone explain to me why the whole Trayvon Martin case is so much worse than every other shooting that occurs every few seconds around the world?
You must have missed his point. But yes, I might have jumped too quickly into conclusions, it's an issue that gets me crabby too easily...
Could someone explain to me why the whole Trayvon Martin case is so much worse than every other shooting that occurs every few seconds around the world?
because the media took a big fat shit all over the case and now people are calling it murder
Could someone explain to me why the whole Trayvon Martin case is so much worse than every other shooting that occurs every few seconds around the world?
The media decided they needed more views and tried their best to paint it as a hate crime to generate more outrage. I'd say, it worked.
Could someone explain to me why the whole Trayvon Martin case is so much worse than every other shooting that occurs every few seconds around the world?
Because the police did nothing (until other people got involved). Their decision to not charge or even drug test the man who had just shot a teenager possibly had something to do with race. [editline]15th April 2012[/editline]
The media decided they needed more views and tried their best to paint it as a hate crime to generate more outrage. I'd say, it worked.
yo dude you're completely and objectively fucking wrong dude. The case has nothing to do with it being a "hate crime". It has to do with the fact that even though the police had apprehended the man who just shot an unarmed teenager in cold blood, they decided to let him go and not charge him with anything.
So Cosby is going to use the ruining of a man's life and death of a teenager to push his anti-gun agenda? Classy.
Yeah I'm pretty scared of Cosby's dangerous hidden agenda myself. He seems like a dangerous guy.
it doesn't even have anything to do with whether or not Martin's shooting was justified. the core of the case is the police seemingly didn't give a shit that there was a dead black teenager
it doesn't even have anything to do with whether or not Martin's shooting was justified. the core of the case is the police seemingly didn't give a shit that there was a dead black teenager
you shouldn't be allowed to breed
So the US is going to use the ruining of the World Trade centers and the death of many to push their anti-terrorism agenda? Classy.
Not comparable.
Not comparable.
Because you agree with one and not the other? Telling people to "stop capitalizing on tragedy" is a tactic the NRA have used since day one to silence the debate about gun control and is especially fucking two-faced considering the NRA's past comments about the case. Maybe if we did use tragedies as a launching point for discussion they would happen less often.
the ONLY thing that turned this into a race issue is that edited 911 call recording, so I have to agree with bill cosby
what about the fact that the police didn't arrest zimmerman? the reason this became such a big story isn't because zimmerman might be racist, but because the cops didn't do shit.
So Cosby is going to use the ruining of a man's life and death of a teenager to push his anti-gun agenda? Classy.
His only son was shot and killed by a white man. It also sounds like he wants to change the fundamental attitudes towards guns in America rather than using legislation for gun control.
it doesn't even have anything to do with whether or not Martin's shooting was justified. the core of the case is the police seemingly didn't give a shit that there was a dead black teenager
You realize Zimmerman isnt white, right?
So Cosby is going to use the ruining of a man's life and death of a teenager to push his anti-gun agenda? Classy.
Bill Cosby is a gun owner.
