I've barely made it through the first few levels of the game, with about an hour of time, but here's my impressions so far:
The graphics look fine and all, but it seems like you can't see a very long distance (like there's fog), and the game looks a bit blurry in general. I have AA off and most, if not all, post-processing effects off.
I think they went a bit overboard with the upgrade system. Unlike DOOM '16 or even SW1, the upgrade system was pretty streamlined overall and you can easily pick out what you want to use. Here, there's all these elemental effects and all this other shit and it all makes me unsure of what to use. Like, I don't want to cycle through ten items seeing what their stats are to make sure I'm getting what I want. I know they were going this Diablo/Borderlandsesque route, but c'mon, this kind of stuff ain't very fun to me, and even then I remember Borderlands doing this sort of thing better.
I can't comment on the humor, since I was just skipping all the cutscenes because I just want some shooter action.
I don't find the enemies too bullet-spongy yet, but I'm playing the second-lowest difficulty because I do know that enemy health increases the higher the setting you go. Overall though, I'm finding the combat much better than the first game so far.

i mean, i'm playing on the hardest difficulty and i'm having no trouble just looking at stuff and going "oh the text is green and is a higher number better equip that" and going through an entire mission or 2 without changing another setting and not having a problem at all killing things within a reasonable amount of bullets.

The thing is though, weapons have a limited number of upgrades you can put on them, so I wanna be sure that I'm putting on the right ones. If I didn't check enough first, I might not be using the upgrades to their full potential. Not to mention, since this game pretty much encourages selling stuff, I especially don't want to sell something I had no intentions of doing. And again, plenty of other games do upgrade systems better than this.
EDIT:
So yeah, this whole upgrade module rune thing doesn't work well to me.
I commented on the video itself but that hit detection looks real dodgy. Like your hitbox is bigger than your body, enemy attacks are massive, and have very deceptive range. Which is bad when you're swarmed from every other corner by them. And from what I can tell, the biggest method of mitigating this is the skills/upgrades/loot or whatever that's doing it that seems to heal you more efficiently mid-battle for whatever reason.

Seemed like that to me too. What looks like a dodge or enemy miss still deals damage which makes getting flawless victory in encounters a real pain even if given ability set does theoretically make it possible.
Some weapon models are way too big. For example the skeleton assault rifle. You use it a lot (since ARs have tons of ammo) but it just takes up so much space its obnoxious.
Overall though the game is really fun. When playing on medium the whole rune system can just be skipped/forgotten if you wish so. My gripe with it is that elemental runes do barely any change in terms of visuals. I expected flaming swords and electricity circling my guns, but all I got was different impact effects.

I watched a preview of the game from TB and his guns did get different elemental effects on the models dependant on the elemental upgrade he has. Weird.

So far I've only seen that with the One-Trick Pony grenade launcher - it comes with a 30% of damage converted to fire mod that's unique to it and makes the barrel all molten-y when equipped.

It sorta happens on some guns but when it does even then it's very underwhelming. For example I don't think swords get any effect change, at least the default one didn't seem to.
My biggest gripe with the game is that it's visually overwhelming, and I find that enemies blend too easily into the visual noise of the levels. I couldn't find chests hidden in the levels, even when staring right at them.
Shadow Warrior 2013 was less saturated, and enemies gave off a color-coded glow, so you could distinguish them from a distance (melee dudes are red, flying/ranged enemies are yellow, kamikazes are green, etc). I don't know why they dropped that.
Apparently if you're playing in CO-op, it only saves the progress of the host. I played with a friend for two hours yesterday then i went solo abit only to have my progress reset.

Yep, this is true. But some posts on the steam forums suggest this is being looked into, I think?

I found this out by accident, but you can right click on a module to remove it from the weapon. The only time this wont work is if its for a unique weapon's module, but you can still attach and remove from its other two slots.

Default sword definitely does change. I have an ice upgrade on mine and the end of it looks froze over.

It doesn't save your story progress but it does save your character progress.
I wouldn't have an issue with the massive amount of upgrades and elements and all that crap if the game wasn't incredibly short. If it was borderlands length of a good 20-30 hours it would make sense but not for a game some people have beaten in 12-13 hours.

They took a massive risk going the route they did. And while I am enjoying it for what it is, I'd rather be playing more shadow warrior 1 style content.

I'd imagine 3rd one will be the better one. With 2 they tried something new and it sorta works so for 3rd one they can polish the shit out of it.

when you attach an elemental rune on your weapon the tip of the weapon changes color/design. the more you attach, the more the weapon changes.
while using the weapon, when the status effect procs (burn, electrocute, chill, etc.) the design glows.
