Rick Scott (R) has been ubiquitous in recent days as Hurricane Irma bears down on the Sunshine State, warning of deadly winds and storm surges and imploring residents to heed evacuation orders. "This is a catastrophic storm our state has never seen," he cautioned at one of many news conferences. By all accounts, Scott and other officials have aggressively tried to prepare the state and its residents for the destructive storm's impact and immediate aftermath. But for all of Scott's vigor in readying Florida for Irma's wrath, his administration has done little over the years to prepare for what scientists say are the inevitable effects of climate change that will wreak havoc in the years to come. With its far-reaching coastline and low elevation, Florida is one of the states at greatest risk from rising sea levels, extreme weather events — including more-powerful hurricanes — and other consequences of a warming planet. Local officials, academics and even some political allies say Scott has scarcely acknowledged the problem and, along with the Republican-led legislature, has shown little interest in funding projects to help the state adapt and become more resilient in the face of storms such as Irma. "The science has been brought on a silver platter to Governor Scott, and he's chosen not to do anything," said Kathy Baughman McLeod, a conservation expert who served on the Florida Energy and Climate Commission, which was effectively dismantled after Scott took office in 2011. "If there is climate action, it's all coming from local and regional collaboration. There is no state leadership on climate change in Florida, period." Scott has often demurred when asked about climate change and the overwhelming scientific consensus that human activity is fueling it, saying, "I am not a scientist." But he faced a wave of criticism in 2015 after the Florida Center for Investigative Reporting revealed that state employees had been discouraged from using the terms "climate change" and "global warming." One state official even refused to utter the words in a public hearing.
I'll just leave this here. Fla. gov. bans the terms climate change, global warming Florida is the red headed stepchild of USA.
Rich Scott is an iconic example of everything wrong in America today. I wish he'd have immortality so he could watch his state be completely submerged by the effect he and his peers tried to pretend didn't exist. Then again, this is Florida, the state that accidentally banned all computer technology across the board when they tried to ban Internet cafés.
Rick Scott being Rick Scott, what else is new?
Government arbitrarily ignores a certain scientific conclusion. Climate change boosted hurricane hits destroying the state and killing people. People sue the government for criminal negligence.
science doesn't mean anything to them. the world can burn for all they care, as long as they're nice and cozy in their upper class neighborhoods.
Sen. Marco Rubio on climate change:
"Sure the climate is changing, and one of the reasons is because the climate has always been changing," he said. "There has never been a time when the climate was not changing." South Florida's problem, he said, is that it was built on a swamp, and because "there are higher sea levels, or whatever is happening." "I have long supported mitigation efforts, but as far as a law that we can pass in Washington to change the weather, there's no such thing," he said. "On the contrary, there are laws they want to us pass that would be devastating for our economy," he insisted, citing the Obama administration's regulations on power plant emissions.
Well how else is he going to realize the dream of ruling the gungans and making Naboo?
Fuck these worthless poiticans that deny climate change.

He'd just move somewhere else and live in luxury.
Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R)
Color me surprised that he's a Republican. It's a bit off-topic and tangential but are there actually any Democrats that are climate change deniers? It might just be the sheer volume of news about Republicans being climate change deniers or just that Democrats tend to be quieter about it but I can't actually recall ever reading about a Democrat being a climate change denier.

I swear to god if this hurricane kills me I'm going to haunt his ass.

Too bad the "chinese climate hoax" doesn't care about any of their opinion, I feel sorry for the people who will ultimately suffer from this.
Hold these fuckwits criminally responsible. [editline]10th September 2017[/editline] Political stances on scientific issues should be a matter of fucking law in any case.
How long until they blame the severity of the hurricanes on gay people/abortion/Obama
How long until they blame the severity of the hurricanes on gay people/abortion/Obama
too late https://www.forbes.com/sites/chrisladd/2017/09/09/rush-limbaugh-fake-news-and-hurricane-irma/#69b7a8722883
Rush Limbaugh is safe. After telling his listeners that the warnings about Hurricane Irma were a scam to promote a climate change "agenda" and boost bottled water sales, he quietly scurried away to higher ground.
he's even painting this as a decision forced upon him by the government with language like "it'd be illegal for me to stay here" or "i can't legally transmit at that time" because a fucking cat 4 hurricane coming straight at your fucking radio station isn't life threatening at all.
Are they dense? Or do they stand to lose money due to people accepting climate change?
Are they dense? Or do they stand to lose money due to people accepting climate change?
Money. Its always money, I doubt these people actually disbelieve climate change since most are relatively well-off and educated. More likely they are just shills for oil and coal companies and deny climate change to fill their pockets. Besides, by the time the worst hits they'll be dead, so might as well enjoy life and fuck the rest of the species. Real talk though, if I was getting paid to betray mankind I would demand figures in the billions at least, so these guys are getting shafted.

The amount of misinformation these cunts create has a lasting effect on this nation...and it ain't a good one...
Rick Scott is an absolute bastard, he's done so much terrible shit to my state I don't even know where to start.

"Doc, I think I have a problem." "Look son, being kinky is nothing to be ashamed of." "Bu-but-!"
The Florida Democratic Party needs to get their shit together. A seemingly purple state is pretty much red thanks to poor organizing and sub-par candidate recruitment.

He does look like a lich in that first photograph. Either that, or he's just seen the Ark of the Covenant open up just as he drank from a false grail.
