http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/local_news/man_accidentally_shoots_kills_himself_while_driving_97749814.html [release]A man in his early 20s was killed Saturday when he accidentally shot himself in the head while driving on the Northeast Side, police said. The man was driving a blue SUV along FM 1976 near Eisenhauer Road with two friends just after 6 p.m. when he unexpectedly pointed the weapon at his head and made a comment in jest before pulling the trigger, police said. The passengers, who were unhurt, told police that moments earlier the man had tried to remove the gun's bullets when a police cruiser passed by, leading him to panic. “We have every reason to believe that this shooting was accidental,” Sgt. James Perdue said, noting the victim was in the middle of moving across town. After the gun went off, the SUV careened off the road and down an embankment before coming to rest in a field of sunflowers. The two passengers fled before returning a short time later, police said, and neither was arrested.[/release] :downsgun:
Like how the antler stabbing thing summed up Alaska nicely, this sums up Texas nicely.
I feel bad for the two passengers. I wonder if it was messy, like Pulp Fiction magnitude.

Whoops.
Aw, shoot.
I want to know what he said before he shot himself in the head. It better have been something good.
Let me guess, he ejected the magazine and forgot to unchamber the bullet still left in. Jokingly said, "hey guys! watch me blow my head off!" and pulled the trigger. This is why gunslaws should be stricter, requiring formal education before any licences are given.
I guess he just couldn't keep his head together.

Maybe an exist exam to see if you're capable of responsibly owning a firearm.

Carrying a loaded weapon in a vehicle falls under "concealed carry" which requires a class before getting the license. Seeing as he attempted to unload the weapon upon seeing an officer, he obvious had no license to carry concealed.
Course if the police caught him with the weapon loaded they would make his fucking life a misery anyway.
He was from Texas. No wonder he shot himself.
If you're a fucking moron and play with dangerous objects you will get killed. If some moron tried to give himself a haircut with a 12 inch knife and stabs himself there's no need to ban knives.
Hey keep reporting all Texas news because I happen to live there and it's nice I don't have to turn on my television
The title was a lot funnier for me than it should have been. The sunflower field thing is sad though.
Hey keep reporting all Texas news because I happen to live there and it's nice I don't have to turn on my television
Alright, just found three Texas-related stories for your pleasure.

Why having ab weapon at all? Self defense is no argument if there were nearly nobody allowed to carry a weapon with him (no weapons, no threats, no deadly escalations, no need for weapons as self defense)

Outlawing weapons is stupid as hell, it just makes civilians bigger and easier targets for criminals who get weapons illegally. Not the point of the thread though, that guy was bein' stupid.

Stop making stupid assumptions.

I'd love to careen into a field of sunflowers :v:
