I got Kung Fury vibes from it, it's fucking awesome!
I'm afraid the trailers will remain the best part of the game.
Finally i'm getting recognition

[sp]Is that the Get Out frog at 1:00?[/sp]
I've played it a bit and it feels really bland to be honest. It has some neat ideas but the core gameplay is just boring for that price. I'll refund it and wait a bit for future updates and maybe a sale. The price is my main gripe right now, should be 10€ at best.

They do. The weapons lack that kind of "oomph" and feel very weak. The sound design in general is pretty bad.
Some elevators don't have a sound file which feels just weird. Everything in this game just feels a bit right and wrong. It's hard to explain but it does some things well and then it doesn't

Seems like a common theme to roguelike FPSes. None of them put effort into making the gunplay feel very good, which is kind of remiss in a game about shooting things.
Honestly, going to be my first Refund.
The foundation itself is solid, but it feels like it need more time to bake. Might reconsider later, but ehhh, think I'll go with PREY for now.

But it's 3 times cheaper in the US, don't you think the comparison is a bit out there?
Looks like a tryhard version of Quake 3.

There was no comparison there, beyond the fact that I spent money from my previous paycheck on this instead of PREY, and now intend to correct that.

It doesn't have anything to do with Q3, it doesn't even have multiplayer. You must mean Quake 1, then yes, that is what they are trying to sell with all the 1996 graphics and stuff.
the game is okay. it's not the best FPS i've ever played but it's at least fun. i think some of the things people say about it are too harsh but it doesn't suck really
The marketing is genius, but the game is average.

It's 20 years late to release date, what did you expect?

Is this the birth of an epic new "X IS THE MOST INNOVATIVE SHOOTER I'VE PLAYED IN YEARS"?

As if to imply games are way better now :v:
Strafe's always kinda bothered me since it's original gameplay was revealed. It bills itsself as being a call back to 90's FPS's, despite it looking way blockier and cleaner than those games ever were (blood effects especially). And at the same time it's a roguelike before a shooter, and a lot of that kinda design sorta counteracts those kinds of shooters.
Without any of that marketing it really wouldn't come off as the kind of game it wants to be percieved as, and it's sort of a shame it's getting such a mixed reception.
All I know is, I want a game that is build to be a spiritual birth-child of unreal gold but with modern equipment based RPG customization elements
Give me something that has the theme of exploring this insane alien world and the attitude of a real late 90's shooter, not something that wears the skin of more successful games on its face like some kind of zombie of video games.
I know I'm going to pick strafe up once its on sale because hell why not, but I also really want it to be not shitty. It seems like its one of those games that put more effort into marketing than the game itself.
shovel knight for example didn't need marketing to get sales, all it had to be was one of the best 2d platformers it could be and that lifted it up on its own. Quality speaks mates.

Strafe has some genuinely very cool ideas, regardless of how shitty or amazing the game is. I hope that any issues people have with it can be patched out in time, though if the launch is weak, well, you only get one launch.
The tutorial I found cute, beyond that I barely played anything. Now I did find if you look in the up and to the left in space in the portal room you can see a level which looks like the beginning level.
The game needs polish, but they gave me a free strafe corsair keyboard so 10/10 IGNkotaku

doom 2016 is way better than this
doom 2016 is way better than this
Doom 1993 too.
I watched a 30 minute gameplay vid from a streamer and almost fell asleep.
Guns sound like pez dispensers, the art style is good but enemy animations, visual effects and the general feel of the game is floaty and meh. I haven't played it but from the gameplay I saw it's far from a fast paced quakelike, combat looked slow and not intense at all and the game focussed more on long term resource management than on twitch reflexes.
Basically, pretending to be a ye olde shooter but not really delivering.
So when does this movie come out?
Shiiiit. Is this game out? This is one of those titles I backed, and promptly forgot about, on Kickstarter. :s
doom 2016 is way better than this
doom 2016 was also made by a far larger team with far more experience so its not exactly fair to compare
It had a huge advantage, and also is a significantly bigger game because of it. Naturally a quality game like that will be better, even if Strafe was a masterpiece.

That part honestly felt great, for a few seconds felt like playing HL1 first time again. Or I'm just a sucker for a female over the telecom telling you what to do.
