Ebola victims in one of the hardest-hit parts of Liberia have been treated by homeopaths who are determined to prove that arsenic, rattlesnake venom and the aphrodisiac Spanish Fly can cure Ebola. The homeopaths arrived in Liberia to use the deadly outbreak to prove their controversial theories and have already spent two weeks in the country with patients in a hospital in Ganta, in the north of the country near to the epicentre of the outbreak.
In letters and messages seen by Mail Online they revealed that the aim of their mission was to prove that homeopathy could treat Ebola.
'The manufacturers of experimental vaccines will then have to change their opinions,' boasted Dr Edouard Broussalian, one of the team of two men and two women working in the remote area.

2 weeks from now:
"Homeopath team sent to Liberia dead of Ebola"
Local witch doctors aren't going to be too happy about them muscling in on their turf.
homeopathy is a scam and this will only prove it even more
anyone who actually believes it works even in the slightest, is gullible and stupid.
There's nothing wrong with trying with homeopathy, the thing is when this pseudosciences/alternative medicines interfere with regular medical treatment.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I hope they catch Ebola. Homeopathy is such a despicable scam that takes advantage of some of the most vulnerable people it can, nowhere is that more evident than a situation like this outbreak. It would be a bit of poetic justice if they end up knowing some of the pain of their victims.
God dammit, you know what's going to happen? It's going to fail, they're going to get sick and either die in the country or flee back to America with no disregard for quarantine and cause another panic because they have no regard for actual medicine.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I hope they catch Ebola.
I don't know about them catching Ebola, but it really is horrible for them to give sufferers false hope with their scam "remedies".

Fingers crossed.

Either they're absolutely retarded and willingly went into an Ebola riddled area without taking proper precautions, or they're assholes trying to profit from peoples fears and suffering and thus deserve to get Ebola.
The team was allowed to travel to Ganta United Methodist Hospital, but on strict instructions not to use homeopathic remedies. Whether they followed those instructions is not known because the hospital in Ganta said it did not monitor their activity.
What the sodding Hell were the people who authorized this thinking?
arsenic, rattlesnake venom and the aphrodisiac Spanish Fly
*water
Between this, the 3rd biggest Legionnaire outbreak in my country and so on; it honestly feels like this is just one big cosmic joke.
With us as the punchline.
Respect for them trying to help the ill, they think they're helping.
But fuck them for filling the African's heads with retarded ideas like homeopathy
There's nothing wrong with trying with homeopathy, the thing is when this pseudosciences/alternative medicines interfere with regular medical treatment.
Sooo how is there nothing wrong about this again?
Sooo how is there nothing wrong about this again?
if you're getting regular treatment as well as snorting ground bull testicles and eating garbage then you should be ok
if you're getting regular treatment as well as snorting heavily diluted ground bull testicles and eating heavily diluted garbage then you should be ok
Fixed.
I bet James Randi would be shocked and infuriated to learn this.
Alternative title:
"Americans export clean water with negligeble amounts of arsenic to Liberia"
There's nothing wrong with trying with homeopathy, the thing is when this pseudosciences/alternative medicines interfere with regular medical treatment.
Considering people waste valuable time on it that they could spend getting legitimate treatment, yes, there is a problem with it.
Pretty sure snake oil peddlers helped cause ebola to get this bad. This shits gonna backfire.
I bet James Randi would be shocked and infuriated to learn this.
He's still alive, and I wouldn't be surprised if he did a video about it. He still makes them from time to time, I believe.
In letters and messages seen by Mail Online they revealed that the aim of their mission was to prove that homeopathy could treat Ebola.
Yeah, good luck with that, considering homeopathy has never been proved to treat anything more than a thick wallet.
Also, if anyone hasn't seen this, Randi does an excellent summary of homeopathy:

Every time I had to do a public speaking lecture, I pulled the Calms Forte overdose (in fact, hundreds - if not thousands - of people do the same thing) and I got everyone's attention fast. Homeopathy is always a good topic, and several people have told me that they were turned off from homeopathic treatments from my speeches alone.
He's also got an excellent TED talk that covers a bit more than just homeopathy.
homeopathy is a scam and this will only prove it even more

Exactly why its so horrible that they are doing it in a place where people are gullable and ignorant of medicine or even accepting of bacteria/viral theoties
There's nothing wrong with trying with homeopathy, the thing is when this pseudosciences/alternative medicines interfere with regular medical treatment.
Is there any evidence that they are trying to peddle homeopathy as the only medicine given, or are they administering it alongside conventional medicine?
There not much potential harm if it's for athletes foot or dandruff.
Homeopathic medicine is the idea that a plant that gives you symptoms of an illness when you are well will cure an illness if taken when you are sick. The medicine is genuinely made by taking a drop of dew from that plant (or soaking a petal from the plant in water or some such) then diluting the resulting water it tens of thousands of times to the point where no trace molecules of the plant are present - they call it 'water memory' and it's bollocks.
When you have a serious disease, and you have people start tricking others into taking homeopathic medicine and these people ignore conventional wisdom because they think that homeopatic medicine actually has any chance of making a difference to any disease or illness beyond placebo (which it doesn't), people are going to die.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for herbal medicines for low-level uses when there's some proof to back them up. If it's a mild case of stagefright or anxiety (I have severe anxiety but I do know that placebos can occasionally help a little) then go for it. And sure, sometimes when you've got a cold or an injury, having a positive outlook can make a world of difference in recovery, and a placebo could make that difference when used alongside conventional medicine. I also love fairytales, and I'm definitely the sort of guy who would put up a stone circle in the back yard because the idea of a spirit world is pretty neat and romantic.
But if people are going around and trying to get people who are facing what I consider to be the most terrifying disease on earth that magic fairy water is going to help them in lieu of actual medicine then that's fucked..
In other words, Homeopaths bring their wallets to Liberia.

Oh, I knew he was alive. I guess I just phrased it awkwardly.
But yeah, I would like to see what he thinks of it if he gets the information.

He may still be alive, but I fear he might have an aneurysm when he finds out about this.
