For a movie with no big studio backing it, it looks really good.
I really felt anxious watching this. I can't wait to see it in a theater.
Holy shit that was amazing.
I cannot wait for that to be in theaters.
That looks fucking amazing
. The film has yet to be shot with the script out to cast and making its debut at AFM, so this is a unique peek at not only the proposed film, but how it's being sold in the early stages. Its gonna take some time though
parts of this are great. parts are pretty laughable. the acting and the cliched lines mostly, but also that swarm of 109s/190s at the end was hilarious
first thing i noticed though was, why are the engines so quiet? i couldn't work out at the start whether they were even airborne or not

i love that it looks better than red tails though. that's so funny. shame no ww2 flight film will ever look as good as the battle of britain though
Im sorry but am I the only one who noticed the scream from "saving private ryan" where the guy with his guts hanging out is yelling for his mom? at 1:22-1:25.
The bit where that b-17 loses its wing and lands on top of the other looked so goddamn retarded, it wouldn't just sit there on top of the other one a few seconds before exploding, it'd be a lot more violent than that
also, that swarm

Looks like something from War Thunder's arcade battles.
Cool, a movie about a bomb raid that killed around 10,000 civilians. Should be good
I really want to see this, as my grandfather was a B-17 Ball Turret gunner.
A swarm of 109's that big would be able to wipe the floor with every single B-17 in that bomber group.
Hell the sight of a swarm that big would panic almost every single pilot lol

I didn't even know about the operation itself but that confused me too. I get the concept of total war and every single person on those flying deathtraps are heroes but making a movie glorifying the bombing of factories seems weird.
To be fair, being in a bomber crew was pretty dangerous. Tailgunners in B-17's had it the worst if I remember correctly.

Just about. I think any of the turret gunners were pretty much fucked if they were assigned that job.
Ball turret gunners didn't even get parachutes.
Think about it like this, your job is to stare at the ground in a glass bubble while 10,000 feet up in a plane filled with explosives while fighters try to fuck you up
Haha what. All of those planes at the end.
Did anyone else hear that guy calling out Mama? Isn't that from Saving Private Ryan? At 1:24
Argh B-17s are so much louder than that. Closest I've ever seen is the accusim B-17 in FSX, most other movies and games just don't get that throaty roar right. Seriously, 4 1200hp Wright Cyclone nine cylinder turbo-supercharged engines ROAR not buzz

It's not like dialogue is important anyway

Because I want to watch a 2 hour movie which all I can hear is deafening engine noise

Well that makes two of us!
Nothing sounds (and feels) better than those babies pumping out the horsepower.

there is a happy medium. they should be screaming over the engines. right now it's hard to even know they're airborne. when the scene opened i spend a couple of seconds wondering "oh was he just having a ptsd dream or something? was he just having a nap in his b17? for some reason? are they in the air?" being in a pressurised cabin is louder than the b17s in this trailer

Ball gunning had the chance to literally be purgatory.
If the landing gear failed and the turret jammed (which happened), then even if the bomber made it back without any more hits, you were fucked.
So that means if this happened early in a mission, you would have to sit in there, cramped up, knowing that in, at most, a few hours, you will be crushed. Slowly.
Also, this isn't B-17s, but the ventral gunner on the russian Pe-2 had, by far, the worst gunner position out of any bomber. His spot was poorly armored and he had to man three guns at once, each of which were famed for jamming.
About the film, it looks pretty decent, but the glaringly obvious problems are kind-of a turnoff.

*glaringly obvious only for plane fanatics like you
i mean seriously, its as bad as those gun nerds who go "omg brad pitt said clip instead of magazine in this one scene terrible fucking movie 1/10"
the only thing i agree with is the lack of noise because that definitely takes away from the atmosphere, but i can guarantee that 90% of the people who will watch it have never even heard of half the stuff you mentioned

I was hoping that it might be a little more catch-22
i guess this is just another load of dramatic war porn

The entire Luftwaffe turning up at the end, that shot alone was hilariously bad.

Keep in mind that there aren't that many aircraft movies made. When one is announced and us plane fanatics get all excited about it, then we see the trailer and see that its just another complete load of Hollywood bullshit, it's pretty disappointing. Just imagine if you were a car fanatic and there was a big race movie coming out and you're hyped for it. But when you saw the trailer, all the Ferrari 458's sounded and handled like Prius', the Dodge Chargers look like Shelby Cobras. It would be pretty disappointing, no?
Historical accuracy is especially bad, unless it's a Tarintino style satirical movie.
I thought it was decent until there was a million 109s
was it a reference to return of the jedi or something

Inglorious Basterds was a realistic portrayal of World War 2 Allied special forces operations in occupied France
