He and 35 others are accused of working with Lebanese and Palestinian groups to carry out attacks in Egypt. The charges are one of four prosecutions that the Islamist former leader now faces. Mr Morsi was ousted by the military last July following mass street protests against his rule. Since then there has been a severe crackdown on his Muslim Brotherhood group, as well as on other activists seen as hostile to the military-backed government. The Brotherhood has been declared a terrorist organisation and authorities have punished any public show of support for it. Other senior Brotherhood figures are also facing a raft of charges, including supreme guide Mohammed Badie and his deputy and former presidential candidate Khairat al-Shater. At least 1,000 people have died in clashes between security forces and pro-Morsi protesters since he was deposed, with thousands more arrested.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-26214732
Fucking military is going to run the country into the ground and of course Morsi won't get a fair trial. Oh well, it's not like he was democratically voted into power. -oh wait
Military isn't going to always run the country. There is an election scheduled for this year. You can't complain about Morsi being deposed, he did some pretty bad stuff. Consolidated his own power, passed a bunch of legislation that took away women's basic rights. He tried to have a bunch of the people protesting against him killed. The Muslim Brotherhood, the group that backed him, was extremely belligerent even before being declared a terrorist organization (which they have since proved truthful). They tried to intimidate any opposition into, well, being not opposition. They themselves killed a few protesters, and even hijacked a couple anti-morsi television stations before and after the election. They even tried to rig the elections that elected Morsi. Morsi being deposed was the single greatest thing to happen to the country in recent years IMO.
Are you seriously defending a muslim extremist?
I think he's defending democracy.
I think he's defending democracy.
You mean the democracy that was very likely a sham in the first place?
I think he's defending democracy.
Then by that logic he should be more in favor of the new constitution seeing as how it got 98% of the vote.
Are you seriously defending a muslim extremist?
are you defending a military coup that killed thousands to remove a democratic institution in a power grab?
