That is absolutely beautiful. I would love to see actual, multiplayer ingame footage

Gah, posted before writing anything. Anyway, I'll record a video on one of the maps that comes with it when I've got the thing set up.
Cascading shadow maps? So baked shadows with with real time quality?
That is awesome as fuck. Yes, doing sex.
That looked amazing.

The fps will be <20.

Shit looks sexy though
Wow, even the flowers are gritty.
Are the developers allergic to colour or something? I don't think I've ever seen anything on that engine that doesn't look supergritty and colourless.

Sure does look supergritty and colorless
That looks beautiful.
The Unreal engine has always been top notch at delivering fantastic atmosphere and takes good use of bumpmaps to make everything look smooth and nice.

Most people on this website think Source is somehow superior in every way. The fact is it isnt and most people have never even heard of adjusting color and effect settings.
Unreal is just boss, offers top notch graphics with great performance.
Source is great, but it's gone from "the best" to "one of the best".
Cascading shadow maps? So baked shadows with with real time quality?
No, it's just normal shadow maps except with LOD levels so they can be far more detailed up close and still go out a fair bit without eating too much memory.
There are better techniques around now anyway don't know why they bothered.

Are you kidding Source was the best... in 2004.
Look guys, I am a Valve fanboy too, but really, Source isn't the BEST OF TEH BEST!!!11 It's fairly outdated in terms of visual quality and performance and handling. I'm not saying it looks UGLY, just dated.
UE3 has some popup problems, but visually and other factors included, it's a top notch engine
Dat brown.
Great job Epic, you guys were my favorite company. Gears of war.
so is this the engine for The Elder Scrolls 5?
So sexy
Damn, nearly everything made on that engine looks depressing :smith:

it can't do Sandbox, so no unfortunately.
I saw that when I took a tour of Epic Games in North Carolina a couple weeks back, it looks awesome.
So i tried this map in the udk november release.
5 fps. :saddowns:
I'm looking forward to playing with this.
Downloading it now.
Looks great, this engine has improved so much since its initial release with Gears and Unreal, but sadly most of the games developed with this will go to console and wont have the pretty effects that only PC can deliver.
I thought UDK didn't have dynamic shadows.
it does, you just need to use the proper light type
it can't do Sandbox, so no unfortunately.
what do you mean by sandbox
I think he means dozen square kilometer seamless open world.
it supports streaming, gears of war's maps were heavily streamed
i wouldn't worry about elder scrolls if it was on UE3, gamebyro's was gutted to pieces to even support Oblivion and we all know sometimes it doesn't hold up well
I can't even believe it's a map for a game. Looks like some Hollywood animators and effect editors made cool movie.
It's probably supersampled for extra crisp goodness, and that dof looks suspicious. "Accurate dof for *filmmakers*" It's probably not going to look like that with settings that can actually run.
