The proposal is part of a plan to boost local tourism, they said. The Conservative-majority South Kesteven council in Lincolnshire voted against the move on Friday.
It would be vandalized beyond recognition within seconds of being unveiled.
It would be vandalized beyond recognition within seconds of being unveiled.
Its all part of the evil labour plan.
Labour want this statue, the conservatives don't? This is very confusing.
Labour want this statue, the conservatives don't? This is very confusing.
Conservatives want to forget, Labour wants people to always remember :v: It makes sense.
I would be afraid to turn my back on it
"boost local tourism"? The only tourism will be those who make a pilgrimage to shit on it or something. Even those among us who agree that Thatcher was a top-notch gal aren't gonna go to fucking Grantham to see a statue of her.
comparing thatcher to the royal family? off with ye ead u wot
I find going to the UK "to see the royal family" just as laughable.
I find going to the UK "to see the royal family" just as laughable.
The Royals are a tourist attraction; it's no more laughable to going to see Big Ben or the Houses of Parliament or Stonehenge.
I find going to the UK "to see the royal family" just as laughable.
i doubt that what's basically a right-wing golem would catch on anywhere near as much
I find going to the UK "to see the royal family" just as laughable.
Well no. Because the 'Royal Family' is a massive historical establishment. Not some small bust of a unpopular politician in a shitty down. You can't compare.
Well no. Because the 'Royal Family' is a massive historical establishment. Not some small bust of a unpopular politician in a shitty down. You can't compare.
Yeah, who the fuck voted for her anyway?
Yeah, who the fuck voted for her anyway?
People voted for George Bush twice. Its safe to call him an unpopular politician.
People voted for George Bush twice. Its safe to call him an unpopular politician.
George Bush is generally disliked, Margaret Thatcher however splits opinion pretty much in half, you can't call it either
George Bush is generally disliked, Margaret Thatcher however splits opinion pretty much in half, you can't call it either
She was unpopular before the Falklands, and once people got ever their mindless nationalism when we won, she was unpopular again. Her own party revolted against her.
She was unpopular before the Falklands, and once people got ever their mindless nationalism when we won, she was unpopular again. Her own party revolted against her.
There was never continued dislike against her, the opinion polls went back and forth. And her party revolting against her came from her conflict with Geoffrey Howe during a period of poor results in opinion polls - not through sheer unpopularity, she won the first leadership challenge and was forced to resign when a second came up. Don't get me wrong, I don't agree with everything Thatcher did but to label her outright as unpopular isn't right - modern day polls suggest that she was the most capable prime minister of the last 30 years.
capable =/= popular
She became one of the most unpopular prime ministers in history
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/1888298.stm
I find going to the UK "to see the royal family" just as laughable.
I'm from the UK and I totally agree, that's like saying you go to Japan to visit the Emperor.
capable =/= popular http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/1888298.stm
Other parts of that article:
She might be old school, but she still has an immense presence in the party and many members hark back to the halcyon days of Tory power, which those who came after her have failed to recreate.

Taking office, she threw herself into making Britain competitive and old style manufacturing was hit hard.

But more conflict was to come as she faced down the miners in their bitter 1984 dispute.

Her intransigence over Britain's involvement in the EU led to bitter disagreements with Cabinet colleagues.
It's not all anti-Thatcher and explains that her popularity fell over the mining strikes and rightly kicking the shit out of the Unions. The rift in the party that led to her resignation is also explained, her colleagues didn't like her 'iron-lady' stance to Europe.
Nothing of that suggests she is popular.
That's horrible, I hope it doesn't scare any children.
I think the BBC accidentally leaked a new Weeping Angel for when Doctor Who starts up again.
Nothing of that suggests she is popular.
The poll results show when she was popular and that her unpopularity correlated with the events in the article.
I'm from the UK and I totally agree, that's like saying you go to Japan to visit the Emperor.
I'd totally go to Japan to see the emperor. Having an emperor would sound so cool.
The proposal is part of a plan to boost local tourism, they said.
More like scared away tourists :v:
