CARACAS, Venezuela — Two of Venezuela’s leading opposition figures were taken from their homes in the middle of the night by state security agents on Tuesday, in President Nicolas Maduro’s first moves against his enemies since a widely denounced vote giving his government nearly unlimited powers. The wife of opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez posted what appeared to be video of him being taken from their home after midnight. “They’ve just taken Leopoldo from the house,” Lilian Tintori wrote on Twitter. “We don’t know where he is or where they’re taking him.” Allies of former Caracas Mayor Antonio Ledezma posted video online of a man who appeared to be the opposition leader being taken by state security as a woman screams for help for neighbors. “They’re taking Ledezma!” she cries. “It’s a dictatorship!”
https://www.reviewjournal.com/sports/rodeo/national-finals-rodeo/police-remove-2-venezuela-opposition-leaders-from-homes/
Civil war incoming.
Civil war incoming.
It was inevitable,Maduro doesn't want compromises so it will be civil war or he will arrest those protesters like he did with Lopez, Ledezma. He got money from our country I guess.
Civil war incoming.
The Venezuelan people have put up with this thus far, it's surprising it hasn't happened yet given the actions of Maduro the past two months. I am curious to see if they will continue to take this lying down, outside just having massive protest rallies again and again. Personally, I think the time for protest is over. The writing is on the wall, chiseled in stone for all to see - the country has become a dictatorship and protesting in the streets has not prevented it in the slightest. The only issue now is a matter of leading the war. If the opposition in government actually lead a civil war, they could be seen as traitors for those that (for whatever reason) are still on the fence. But if they don't and forces develop to fight Maduro have no leadership, it will lead them to be disorganized and open to defeat - and worse, unaccountable to anyone for whatever bloody actions they take.

If there wasn't an active resistance like there is in the streets of Venezuela, Maduro would be able to act unimpeded. On the contrary, the blame lies squarely in the opposition leaders and their inactivity. They were empowered to act by the plebiscite held on the 16th of July and they failed to do so. There is a lot of in fighting and indecision that led to many massive protests before the date of the constitutional assembly being cancelled. We must demand that the opposition acts promptly, we must demand that they discard any elements that are still interested in any negotiation that doesn't involve the immediate ousting of Nicolas Maduro.

He already governed by decree but at least he had the cover of being democratically elected, not anymore. The constituent assembly is far from being a victory for him.

His worse position is only worse if the opposition decide to do something instead of sit on their asses and have city protests.

Whoever still on the fence and decides to fight FOR the dictatorship is just another worthless lemmings that made their choices. The dictatorship needs to be swiftly and brutally destroyed.
