Single UK ticket wins £161 million (tax free) on Euromillions - Polidicks

Just one UK lottery ticket has won Europe's biggest jackpot of approximately £161,653,000. The ticket holder got all numbers, including the Lucky Stars. A National Lottery spokesman said: "This is amazing news - we are absolutely delighted that a UK ticket holder has scooped the entire 185 million euro jackpot, which at the current exchange rate is a massive £161m. "This is the biggest winner this country and Europe has ever seen and follows hot on the heels of the anonymous ticket-holder who last October scooped £113m. "We've got the champagne on ice and look forward to welcoming the ticket holders into the National Lottery millionaires' club." it is estimated the jackpot will earn over £3.4 million in interest, that's £9,323 per day. I don't know how the lottory works at that side of the world (the article makes it sound like only collaborative groups of tickets win most of the time), but over here this isn't news.

Or they use a system where you get money depending on how much your ticket matches the winning one, so getting a 100% matching one is near impossible (As not nearly all possible #'s are sold)

The statistical chance of winning the euromillions jackpot is if I remember correctly 1 in 116 million.
