Here's the original 9-minute short if you haven't seen it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Cw7aAFS5oc Here's the Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1862188728/tales-of-alethrion-season-one
They're gonna need to get dialogue, or at least a voiceover, for a full TV-series. The short itself worked with the humming sounds and whatnot but to do it for an entire "episode" or even a series? In my opinion it'd get boring. Quickly. This guy said it well too [t]http://i.imgur.com/qmFXEky.png[/t]

Tom and Jerry, and the Mr. Bean TV series springs to mind. Besides, they seem to understand how to convey a story with no dialogue at all, so I'm optimistic.
Ahah awesome. Loved the first one. Also [sp]that Shovel knight reference[/sp]
Aw man. What an amazing [sp]setup for the original short.[/sp] At first I thought I wouldn't watch it until the end, then got sad when it ended.
That was beautifully done. It doesnt need dialogue, it was pretty obvious what was going on.

That's why the short they made worked as well, and it's why this kind of worked. This looks like it's intending to be 20+ minutes in length for every episode with varying themes and maybe even over-arching plot elements. That's going to be extremely difficult to convey without some kind of vocal narrative. So I'm pessimistic.
...When you think about it. He does have a point.

It would only be a shame to remove something that gives it a certain charm and makes it stand out from all the other derivatives.
imho he should work on his animation a bit more before working on a crowdfunded season.

Hehe... mmm?" and it wouldn't get repetetive to you? I'm not saying they wouldn't be able to make a story out of it, they might be able to do that just fine, but in my opinion it'll be boring and repetetive.
Yes, i'd gladly watch a season of this. I might be Optimistic but you're stubborn.
Yes, i'd gladly watch a season of this.
Well, whatver floats your boat I guess. Good on you for the optimism.

It's not the case at all and even the animator would get bored nobody is that dumb. Thinking stories can't be told without dialogue. Like, what is silent theatre???

I clearly said
I'm not saying they wouldn't be able to make a story out of it, they might be able to do that just fine
I just don't think they'll be able to make it entertaining enough for 4.4 hours (assuming 22 minutes times 12 episodes)
Read before you reply. I clearly said I just don't think they'll be able to make it entertaining enough for 4.4 hours (assuming 22 minutes times 12 episodes)
Well, we do have movies such as The Triplets of Belleville, which is amazing. Admittedly the plot is not very complex, but then again neither was The Reward.
Read before you reply. I clearly said I just don't think they'll be able to make it entertaining enough for 4.4 hours (assuming 22 minutes times 12 episodes)
Your reasoning for it not being entertaining enough for a long period of time is basically "he will make them humm a lot >:C and it will be repetitive" Straight up presumptuous, especially when there's a clear example of the potential at the top of the damn page. Dick Van Dyke was just so fuckin repetitive. All those nods and gestures, just not very exciting conversations i tell you what
Well, we do have movies such as The Triplets of Belleville, which is amazing. Not saying indie projects can't be good, but it's an off comparison.

If they manage it, color me surprised. That's what I mean?
I'm sorry, but now you're just fishing off the deep end. It's not really about opinions anymore. You just want to be the "winner" of the discussion.

I'm not trying to win a discussion, I'm trying to tell you that this is an opinion. I'm not trying to change anyones mind, I am just giving you an opinion on a public forum about my view on how this might turn out. Opinions. I'll leave now.
In this 22-minute episode they managed to convey the story really well without dialogue so it obviously isn't a problem for them
Yes? That's what I mean?
I'm saying just because they aren't famous doesn't mean they don't have potential. People don't just plop into being reputable for what they do. I already said earlier in this thread that they should work on their animation before doing the project. The talent is obviously there, so it's straight up presumptuous to say they can't pull off what is something fully capable of being pulled off, and has been many many times past present and future (most likely including this piece).
i thought this was going to be tigtone whem i read the title, but this is just as good if not better

"this couldn't be entertaining" is vastly different from "I wouldn't find this entertaining"
imho he should work on his animation a bit more before working on a crowdfunded season.
I didn't see any flaws in their animation, the only thing that might be interpreted as a flaw could be how it's choppy sometimes, but that was an intentional style choice and nothing to do with skill. Smoothening the animation could be done by just having somebody draw inbetweens which doesn't take much skill at all, but a lot of people like the keyframes-only look, especially animators This is feature film-quality animation
I didn't see any flaws in their animation, the only thing that might be interpreted as a flaw could be how it's choppy sometimes, but that was an intentional style choice and nothing to do with skill
I don't mind the choppiness, it's the inconsistency, albeit minor.Like when you have a character standing still and you can easily notice every frame (like the character is wavy). It's just something that's usually a telltale sign of unfinished animation, so it bugs me. If that's how it supposed to be then oh well I guess, I'd rather a more polished approach but the work is still enticing so I'll still watch.
To be fair to coyoteze though, the only way to keep a thread active on FP is to start an argument. His efforts to getting this thing more attention are appreciated. so... This show is dumb and you're dumb and phbbbt [editline]2nd May 2015[/editline]
I don't mind the choppiness, it's the inconsistency, albeit minor.Like when you have a character standing still and you can easily notice every frame (like the character is wavy).
