Syrian government forces will not receive the first shipment of S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems until the middle of next year, Russian media have reported.
For some reason, Moscow has decided not to deliver the missiles straight away. Perhaps they had closed door negotiations with Israel? Source
This sounds.. odd.. as I mentioned earlier, wasn't this deal, along with a few else, one that started before all of this happened in Syria? That they sent their equipment such as helicopters and AA to Russia, to be updated/repaired or such?
I heard these were shipments that had already been contracted long before the rebellion set in, so, you know.
Hell, by then the war might as well be finished. Dunno why they're delaying it since they seemed so keen on helping Assad.
I heard somewhere that a few have already made it to Syria, I'm confused now
I heard somewhere that a few have already made it to Syria, I'm confused now
Assad claimed that on Hezbollah's TV station, but it is untrue. Any S-300s would have been spotted by Western intelligence agencies.
Won't really make any difference unless somebody decides to intervene directly with air power. Though Assad is probably nervous as fuck about that because that would easily turn the tables.
Because they need to be trained and they need time to induct them into the military.

Assad was just attempting to appear stronger on TV, I guess.
