“So can you switch characters? Trevor Michael and Franklin - can you play all of those guys? And everybody has their own missions???!” – @GTAVISBEST "How is changing between characters going to work during missions?" – HIBMFL “Do you have to switch characters constantly?” – killer772 Michael, Franklin and Trevor have their own separate lives with their own sets of friends and acquaintances, and even their own preferred ways of spending their free time. When you’re not on a mission, you can freely switch in real-time to any of the three characters to drop in and out of their lives letting you see what they’re up to. And because they have their own schedules, you’ll never know what they might be doing – you might drop in on Michael in the middle of a family dispute, interrupt Franklin chatting up some ladies, or Trevor on the run from the law – or whatever else these guys do in their free time... How and when you switch between characters when you’re not on a mission is completely up to you. In addition, each of the guys has their own missions and side jobs. There will be times on a mission when you play as one character, or as combinations of two of them, and sometimes as all three, always being able to switch between the characters mid-action. Off mission, it’s up to you. You can play as one character on his own or hang out with either of the other two or both of them, or you can switch between any of them. “A healthy GTAIV multiplayer game is really hard to come by nowadays. By healthy I mean players play for good clean fun. Every time I join a game it's either modded or hacked. When I create a custom game, some abusive d*ck joins my game and ruins everyone's fun game. I can't just kick him out unless everyone votes. Do something about this in GTAV, Rockstar.” – received via Mouthoff Ever since Grand Theft Auto IV was released, we’ve continued to integrate newer and stronger methods of cheat detection and prevention for each of our games. While we have yet to reveal specifically what new anti-cheating measures we have planned for GTAV, rest assured that we’re focused on creating as level a playing field and as fair, fun (and healthy as you say) an experience as possible for everyone. There will always be some people who want to cheat but we are going to do our best to stop it. We have spent a lot of time and effort making an incredible Online experience and proper support is part of that package. “Hello Rockstar, I have a question: how much difference will there be between the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game?” – received via Mouthoff Players can expect the same great gameplay experience on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms as they have both been developed in tandem. Like all of our games, trust that we’re committed to making sure Grand Theft Auto V looks and runs as great as possible regardless of whether you pick it up for PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, and we are excited for fans on both platforms to experience Grand Theft Auto V this September. We expect any visual differences to be completely negligible. “I smell a delay...” – SanViceCity “Hope R* will release this game on September 17th. HOPE it will no be delayed AGAIN.” – creed_20103 There’s nothing to worry about, so we aren’t quite sure what you’re smelling! GTAV will be available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on September 17th.
There are still a few questions i haven't posted that you can find here. Sounds cool.
I don't understand why they aren't making it on ps4 and xbox one...
Because development probably started ages ago.
I don't understand why they aren't making it on ps4 and xbox one...
GTA games take a very long time to develop due to the insane amount of content and detail, it's more than likely been in production since before the end of the current console generation was even considered
I don't understand why they aren't making it on ps4 and xbox one...
Because they started developing it years ago, and they'd have to remake most of their assets to really take advantage of new hardware. (Plus the PS3 version will be available on PS4 through Gaikai anyway)

That screenshot really doesnt look like PS3 or Xbox360. I smell a next gen version releasing on the same date as PC.
That screenshot really doesnt look like PS3 or Xbox360. I smell a next gen version releasing on the same date as PC.
Rockstar is really pulling off some wizardry on the current gen stuff, you'd be surprised.
That screenshot really doesnt look like PS3 or Xbox360. But I also heard the visuals are more like Red Dead, but I guess we have to wait for the gameplay video.
As far as i know from Rockstar, they develop full time on 1 title which currently would be GTA V and as they shift from little to full development, a new game would already start to be in development. So i guess that once GTA V is out they are already half way there with a new game, preferably a new Red Dead, Bully (small chance but hey...) or Max Payne
I don't understand why they aren't making it on ps4 and xbox one...
Much like the Last of Us I guess, they want to make their "last debut" games on these consoles that have ran a long way. If that makes any sense.
I don't understand why they aren't making it on ps4 and xbox one...
Also R* does not leave a console generation until they get get everything out of it's hardware. Like GTA San Andreas for PS2.
"Don't have anything to share about" the PC version. That's good, that means that they probably are in fact planning to just have people first buy it on the consoles and then on the PC.
“Will we ever see some GTA V gameplay?” – @ASTR4Lx Yes. Soon (or in September if you don’t want to see it before you play it… it’s up to you) – the first Official Gameplay Video is on its way...
can't wait
GTA IV is nearly 5 years old. Dayum.
GTA IV is nearly 5 years old. Dayum.
It's more than 5 years old now, it was released in April 2008. If you want to be technical, it's almost 6 years old now, because it was complete in September 2007 but delayed because they discovered issues with the PS3 version.
Almost all of these questions have already been known/answered before, but still nice
"Don't have anything to share about" the PC version. That's good, that means that they probably are in fact planning to just have people first buy it on the consoles and then on the PC.
Just like previous GTA releases then.
Q- Will we ever see a Wii u release???
"Don't have anything to share about" the PC version. That's good, that means that they probably are in fact planning to just have people first buy it on the consoles and then on the PC.
This is speculation but I reckon if they make a PC version they will port it to the next gen too due to the similar architecture.
Also R* does not leave a console generation until they get get everything out of it's hardware. Like GTA San Andreas for PS2.
In 2004 San Andreas had somewhat lacking graphics if anything, the open world aspect is the only real hardware pushing thing it had going for it [editline]2nd July 2013[/editline] They were already pushing the current gen with IV. It looks like blurred trash on consoles, no AA, low res textures and a terrible framerate. I really hope R* pull some magic when it comes to performance with V. [editline]2nd July 2013[/editline] Also damnit, more anti cheat measures means no more trainers for SP maybe. I really hope they only put Anti cheat on MP.
So this is kinda like the Sims, where you can drop into Franklin having an argument with his kids, then you just make him go on a fucking rampage and throw himself off a roof
Color me impressed when I can switch to a character and find myself in the Hot Coffee minigame.
I love this bit:
"If I play as Trevor, can I zoom out, find out where Michael is, and then go and kill him while playing as Trevor? #GTAV" Having found them, (or simply after calling them up and arranging to meet them), you’ll certainly be able to hang out with them, annoy them should you choose, and maybe even assault them, but you won’t be able to kill them. They all have remarkable powers of recovery and good health insurance.

They were already pushing the current gen with IV. It looks like blurred trash on consoles, no AA, low res textures and a terrible framerate. I really hope R* pull some magic when it comes to performance with V
it looked like that because it was their first open-world RAGE engine game, as well as their first open-world game on current-gen consoles. Red Dead Redemption is a lot better of a representation of what they can do with current-gen hardware, and the only noticeable graphical problem that game had was some poor shadow filtering.

I can't wait to see what they do with GTA 6, seeing as it will probably be released about 4-5 years into the next generation. The possibilities!
I can't wait until we get all of the ~myths and legends~ and things that come from a game of that scope, even if they're all fake, it is very nice to get cozy in your little media room and watch videos or read articles about bigfoot or the ratmen.

R* will probably hide some in someday.
