The R8 is a cool idea for a secondary but it seriously needs a nerf in damage output, basically acts as a mini-awp and can one shot enemies from nearly any distance no matter where you hit them.
Also its glitchy and you can fire it while defusing by right clicking at the moment.
- It has less spread than most rifles
- It's a guaranteed 1-shot from the waist up, and if not, it deals 95 damage at a minimum
- Left click allows it to be extremely accurate up to AWP ranges
- Right click (fan) deals death at a fast rate, so it's perfect for groups
- It has insane penetrative power
- Ignores body armor
- Has an 8 round wheel, giving it only 2 less shots than the AWP
- Does not have the speed impediment of the AWP when scoped
- Only $850 so even bottom-fraggers can buy it after Round 2
It's about as balanced as the Titanic is waterproof

You can also avoid the windup time by holding M2 and then hitting M1 once to cock, and one more to fire, it wastes one shot but allows you to hit M1 to cock it and then again to shoot it.
I have no idea how the fuck you can code logic that glitches as much as this gun does, but valve fucking managed to do it.

Don't forget that you can also shoot it during the freeze-time with mouse2 for whatever reason.
The freeze-time / defuse time shots are probably because no other weapon in the game fires on mouse2, at best they zoom, change fire modes, or, in the case of the M4A1-S and USP-S, attach a suppressor. It's entirely plausible with Valve's track record that they completely forgot to account for this.
Playing competitive is basically just playing Revolver Time as it is literally the best weapon possible.
I'm not kidding. It's not a "wow this seems cool I'm going to try it".
The only counter to the R8 is something like the Negev, since you will simply put more lead in the air than the guy you're fighting, and you have a solid 80% chance of being killed by one of their teammates.
The only way I've found to really counter it is to just jump around and spray.

I should mention I fucking revile Counter Strike because of the AWP. I feel it is an affront to all sane game design, where you add a OHK weapon in a game where the rest of the guns are mag dumps. So you can imagine that I am absolutely loving that the community is shitting themselves over this revolver. It's an amazing double standard. It is comedy gold.
I mean yeah the revolver is obviously going to get nerfed since no one is using any other pistol, but it's still pretty funny to see this hypocrisy.

The AWP is fairly well balanced though. Yes, it's OHK, but it's extremely expensive, and time between shots is lengthy, since it's bolt action. You're only rewarded for using it if you have good aim, otherwise, you're just gonna give the other team the opportunity to pick it up and use it against you.
Not all of the other guns aren't mag dumps, AK is OHK in the head as well, so CS definitely rewards good shot placement.

Well yeah, there are other weapons that OHK, but you have to understand there is a considerable difference in skill between a headshot with an AK, and an AWP getting a body shot. I agree with the price, though.
And from what I've seen, the time between shots isn't that big of a deal. I've seen plenty of times where one person can solo a round with only an AWP and a bit of wiggling. My friend does it all the time on that forested map with the stacked logs.
Also, you get nothing for getting kills with the awp. If your team has a couple awps, you don't keep building cash reserves for winning. It's the complete antithesis of a snowballing weapon, especially if you cannot reliably use it to maximum effectiveness.
High risk, high reward. That's good game design.

Grenades are pretty reliant on the maps, though, with some spots being pretty much grenade proof. That window on Mirage for example.

The biggest problem I've had is that they fucking added skins to this gun before testing anything so it just can't be removed since there are SKINS to this shit.
Have they ever removed any guns? I thought Valve prefers to just nerf shit to oblivion.

They also made rifle spray inconsistent. CS spray memorization is a hallmark, and they just killed it but also added a pistol thats accurate while moving and one shots everyone. What are they doing.

What double standard? The awp is OHK to most parts of the body because it's an extremely expensive gun that is easily countered by smokes, nades, flashes, playing angles that don't favour the awp.
Meanwhile the Revolver is several thousand dollars cheaper, can be easily bought on second round even by a losing team, allows you to run at pistol speed instead of awp speed, doesn't require you to be scoped in, can fire much faster and most importantly, does as much damage an awp shot to the chest as an easy-to-aim pistol

The revolver and the AWP can both kill with a bodyshot at medium to far ranges with only one shot. Adjusting the barrier to entry won't change the fact that they are both easily abused. And finally, grenades can be used as a counter against literally every other weapon, so it doesn't really excuse the AWP's existence.
If you really can't see the joke that is valve re-introducing what is effectively another AWP, and seeing the irony of it being hated by the community, who also vehemently adores the existing AWP, then I feel sorry for you. I'm sure it must be dumb of me to be going against the grain by thinking this, but it doesn't matter. I'm enjoying this far too much.
