To be fair, the gorilla skin is suppose to be based on Donkey Kong. I guess it being called "Drums Out" is too on the nose, but it's nowhere as bad as this skin.

I was always debating whether or not I should pick up Smite. I'm glad the game helped make the decision for me!
up until now i didnt care much for smite, now its on my top five worst games

isn't the core problem with HiRez is that it's an internal struggle between the team that cares about the game and the fucking crazy ceo/owner/project boss/leader that comes in and tells people to buff heroes (based on him alone sucking at them), making characters "look more fuckable", and other such shitty ideas?
Anyone know what I'm talking about? Can I get a source? I swear I've heard this story before.

As far as I know, those are only rumors from "ex-employees". Don't really think there's much to those claims other than that.
I'm not 100% sure though. There's other people here that might know more than me.

Smite itself is really fun and the characters can and do have really excellent skins, but then they slip up and make questionable decisions like this one. It's a shame that it happens, but I'm not going to decry a company or game because of it.

They really do, some are less impressive than others of course.

Smite has a great art direction when it comes to the default designs for Gods and maps, and even half of the skins including the ones Captain and gbtygfvyg posted.
Their recent updated Clash with a new Egyptian theme is a good example of this:

It's a shame HiRez are more mixed when it comes to their skins, they seem to throw this art direction out the window a lot of the time. Feels like 2 completely different teams are working on this game.
I'd play SMITE more if it had some sort of PvE mode.
